Last fall I went to my first convention, rose city comic con. I thought it was great! I loved taking my son with me and having him in awe over all of the people in costumes and the cool super hero stuff.
Friday the 24th I am going to wizard world portland and I get to meet my hero Smilin' Stan Lee thanks to my best friend getting me tickets to the meet and greet for Xmas. I'm so excited. I don't think I'm going to do more than one day this time around, they didn't really advertise this one well and I didn't get much time to save up.

I live on Long Island so I can travel to NYCC. I've been there every year since they started and man... It's gotten huge. I used to go to all the panels when I would go for more than one day, but now I'm more interested in scouring around, getting awesome deals on trades and art. I do love it. It still has a strong Comic feel even with all the other stuff going on

I live in NC so there are a few cons around in the state throughout the year. The best one by far is HeroesCon in Charlotte. It's not a particularly large con in terms of attendee size but the guest list is always full of unbelievably talented artists and writers. The first year I was there, Stan Lee, Mike Mignola, Scott Snyder, Kelly Sue DeConnick, Matt Fraction, and Greg Capullo were there, along with tons of other people. It's not that expensive to attend either, especially if you don't live far away. I'm trying very hard to get Bob Reyer and deadanchoress to come down to it. If anyone is interested, you can check it out here: www.heroesonline.com/heroescon/The sad thing is this year, we can only attend it on Friday because a friend of mine is getting married on Saturday. At least I'm missing out for a great reason.

I've only been to a few small conventions, but I can't decide which major convention I want to save up and attend. Living in Birmingham there are pretty few options in the area. Anyone have a recommendation for a first major Con?

I made it my goal to attend more Conventions in the upcoming year since pretty much the only Comic Convention I been going non stop since 2009 is NYCC.
Other than that I gone to anime conventions , it begun as I was interested in Anime plus I made friends but slowly I been loosing interest (the close friends I have also are loosing interest and I rather converted to comics and Comic shows)
Im planning to go to Heroescon this year since one if those friends lives in NC and has been going for the last two years and truly recomends it. Next year I'll try C2E2.

I've always wanted to attend a comic convention, but I've never heard of one near where I live (Wisconsin). I'd like to not have to travel half way across the country to attend one.

Last year for me was convention insanity. Part of it was for TC, the other part was I wanted to get out there and talk/meet with more people, fans and creators. All in all I ended up going to 18 conventions (the only one I DIDN'T attend was NYCC but that's changing this year) and it was a total and complete blast. But I feel like now I could write a book on what to/not to do at a con.

The guest list this year already looks fantastic.

Living in Southern California has a lot of perks, one of them being the endless amount of Conventions that seem to be coming here. Last year I went to Long Beach Comic Con, Wondercon, Comikaze Expo and San Diego Comic Con. All were great except for Comikaze which was a mess. Putting artist alley in the middle of the show floor right next to the main stage = terrible idea. My favorite was probably Wondercon, was able to meet quite a few artists and writers and it wasnt overcrowded. My SDCC experience was great and I loved it being my first time but by Sunday I was ready to go home. It was packed to the point where movement down the floor was more of a shuffle/very slow walk. I tried to get into Hall H Friday for the Game of Thrones panel, got in line at 5:30 am and the panel was at 2. by 1:45 I still wasnt in and just gave up and went to the show floor. SDCC's Hall H is at the point now where you pretty much almost HAVE to camp out over night just to have a chance at getting into a panel.

I haven't been to a con since I was a kid. I'm hoping my girlfriend gets me tickets to the one in Chicago that's coming up soon. I'm excited to bring all my books and get them signed (hopefully) and get some sketches done for me.
Anyone else planning on going?

Two years ago my brother asked to have his bachelors weekend at New York Comic Con. He, his best friend (who I grew up with) and my best friend have decided to make an annual tradition of it. We've only done it twice now but it's very cool and a lot of fun. I live in the greater Philadelphia metro region so there are a lot of cons big and small within driving distance that I travel to every year. I go to Wizard World Philly some years but skipped last, it's just too expensive for what amounts to a pop-culture/autograph convention. Oh, and I did my first Baltimore Comic Con this year - that is definitely going on the list for annual pilgrimage, my entire family enjoyed it, including my wife (who is pretty cool anyway).

I really want to go to NYCC, I usually make a trip to NY each year and have been thinking of planning this years around that. Might even pass on San Diego this year to give NYCC a shot. Hear nothing but good things about it.

As I stated before I'm going to meet Stan Lee next friday. I'm really excited! I don't really have any original comics for him to sign, and I silk screen t-shirts as a hobby/side business, so I'm going to do the next best thing and print a shirt and have him sign it. Having Stan sign something I made sounds even cooler to me than anything else. Here is a shrunken to fit on a regular piece of paper sized test print I did to make sure the halftone pattern for his face would work out.
