finished #2 last night (#1 must have grabbed me enough to warrant another purchase:P ) and I liked it better than the 1st issue. This is the book people should start with if they haven't been keeping up with the avengers. No background is necessary except for a couple pages at the end that might lose the new reader and the book does an excellent job of letting you know what the deal is without resorting to random exposition; it's all in the story of the new Thor Corps (I don't know if that is what they are called but it sounds good) recruit. I didn't want to like it, but it's been good enough that it'll probably keep me reading the main series and I will read the tie ins when they show up on Marvel U. Hickman actually stated in an interview with CBR that he wanted issue #2 to be the first issue of Secret Wars, but it seems like editorial wanted the cataclysm to kick it off in issue #1. that makes total sense

I'm glad I didn't post much! I had a few drinks like that and I'm glad I kept myself from saying how I felt at the time.
At face value, I like it. There's action, explosions, and a skilled writer. But the more I think about it, the more I feel how unnecessary a lot of it is. I have strong feelings about the content of hickmans long avengers run. Ill put it this way.... I'm glad his run is almost over. But I do look forward to his work outside marvel.

So does anyone have a solid answer to this question?
As far I can tell other than last days issue marvel has not actually said that all they world are ongoing or miniseries except maybe AvX
Are these all test beds and if they do well they become ongoing like Spider Gwen or all on going or all miniseries
If they are in fact test beds will buying them digital get my vote counted or do I have to buy the singles
If I have to buy singles I will but with my room dwindling and the universe ending I thought this might be the perfect time to switch to digital

well that's super vague Troy, Jonathan isn't being vague, he's just keeping his feelings...secret! I'm curious if your opinion of Secret Wars got any better with issue #2 Bob, or have you avoided it lol? Off-topic question, whose your money on for the NBA Championship? I'm a fan of Lebron, however I think the West will win whether its Golden State or the Rockets.

God-Doom is displeased with your luke-warm reactions. Your wallets, coin purses, and piggy banks are all forfeit.

Cap'n, I did pick it up, and without giving away too much of the next episode, I'm probably in for one more, if only to try to grasp the lay of the land, as this "What If?"/"Elseworlds" issue didn't provide me enough evidence yet for a "Yea" or "Nay" vote. As to the NBA, if Kyrie Irving is healthy, I think the Cavs can go all the way, as they're getting good production from seemingly everyone on the roster; if he's nicked up, I don't think they'll get past Atlanta, who would probably be my pick to win it all, just due to their team-oriented concept.

I'm in, this was better than I expected. But I'm going easy on the tie-ins. Right now, I'm going with , renew your vows, & rise of attilan. I'm window shopping the rest to see what catches my eye. I picked up A-force today to get a feel.

Ok I grabbed all the tie ins today and....... the only ones worth my money were a force and planet hulk. Everything else I read, I felt like I wasted my money and wish I could have it back. Sorry, just my un filtered dealings at the moment. But the Two I mentioned were fantastic. Tomorrow I have off and i will re read everything. But I don't expect that to change much

Any idea if I can read ultimate end or any of the new multiverse titles without reading secret wars
I am waiting for the hardback but I definitely want to check out some of these new worlds
