So, with this article and the map therein - www.newsarama.com/22828-marvel-release-full-map-of-secret-wars-battleworld.html - I find myself a bit less confident in Marvel's potential plan (which I'm still hoping involves them doing a partial reboot/fix of various things during a reconstruction of a broken timeline, if I can summarize it that way) and a bit more worried that this is going to be almost the same damned thing as DC's Convergence, which, if I understand correctly, involves Brainiac putting parts of DC's multiverse together just to see what happens/to make them fight. And if they ARE the same basic concept, how the hell does that happen? Oy. Please let it be better than I'm now feeling it's going to be...

And if they ARE the same basic concept, how the hell does that happen? Oy. Please let it be better than I'm now feeling it's going to be... 1997: 2 volcano disaster movies (Volcano and Dante's Peak) 1998: 2 asteroid disaster movies (Deep Impact and Armageddon) 2013: 2 White House hostile takeover movies (White House Down and Olympus Has Fallen) ...and many, many more. Both stemming from the same source material, a result of corporate espionage/plagiarism, or a Big 2 conspiracy aimed at those readers who complain about events and event fatigue? You be the judge. In any case, it will change the universe forever, until the next event passes through and retcons everything.

So for once Marvel weren't lying. This will actually change the universe forever.
Not to be cynical, but I assume to look more like the movies. I imagine 616 Nick Fury will say bye-bye to make way for the Samuel L Jackson Nick Fury which is my biggest bummer to take away from this.
There's also all the talk about X-Men and Fantastic Four getting massive shake-ups because of the Disney/Fox problem. I just wish the comics could be the comics and the movies the movies.
But the fact Miles Morales: The Ultimate Spider-Man will now be part of the main universe both excites me and bothers me. It excites me because he will now get the limelight he deserves instead of being stuck to the sidelines. It bothers me because that book has been amazing since the start and has felt so safe from event/crossover harm in its own little corner of the universe. The side characters in that book are the best part too. So now they will all be sacrificed/changed for this event. Miles Morales in a universe where Peter is alive makes very little sense when his Peter Parker is to Miles what Uncle Ben was to Peter. They may as well bring Uncle Ben back ... oh wait...
They should give the books a What Ever Happened To The Man Of Tomorrow?-like send off. That's one thing the New 52 missed out on so I hope Marvel learn from that.

I'm still interested in this and also won't jump to conclusions as we still don't know much other than the following points:
-Secret Wars #1 (and I believe will start with Avengers #41 based on the cover) will end with the heroes of both 616 and Ultimate failing to stop the incursion happening with both Earths. -Unlike what we all expected and were shown, both Earths won't die but rather merge and form a piece of Battleworld. -Issue #2 will show this new world..... -And that after all this is done, aspects from Battleworld will shape the new Marvel Universe...whatever that means.
Honestly I see this as a way to streamline the 616 universe (and fix the whole "everything is canon we are just moving the timeline") while MAYBE bring popular characters from other universes into this one or maybe keep them in their universes (which also will get some sort of fix...which the Ultimate one needs sooooo much)

This also might be to solve what do you at the end of phase 3 movies especially if it ends with the infinite gauntlet.
This crazy multiverse solution could be the problem
Wait that is not Robert Downey iron man of well this is part of the civil war universe
Hulk movie not interesting but what about a future imperfect or planet hulk universe movie

The only thing I am concerned with is what happens to all the titles I am getting in 616 like Moon Knight, Secret Avengers, Black Widow

I bet in the end is all just an elaborate plot devised by arcade and battleworld is nothing more than a simulation.

I am just so confused. I go into comics in the 90's and went away from them during high school / college and got back into them about a year or two ago. I started back in with Batman of New 52 and mostly Image. I was never a big Avengers fan and I wanted to get back into the X-Men books but none of the characters were familiar anymore... I have no idea what "ultimates" and their universe even are and I have no idea what is going to happen when their world and 616 ( ) collide... So confusing. I'm kind of glad I am confused because all of this alternate universe stuff is so weird and not really entertaining to me. Maybe that is why the only Marvel book I am really into (Spiderman) hasn't been scratching that itch for me so to speak. I will certainly check all this out, but whoa this has gotten super weird since I was a kid : )

I don't know, back in the 90s we had inferno, cyclops and Jean grey sending their son into the future only to have him come back in time as cable, all the genosha stuff, psylocke being turned into an Asian and brainwashed to become a ninja... Stuff was weird them too

No interest in this whatsoever, especially if this is gonna become Marvel's version of the New 52.I don't know if its gonna be that, but i read somewhere that this is a sort of reboot, but also not a reboot, which reminds a lot of what DC did, and i just don't care.
Just give me Squirrel Girl and Ms Marvel every month, that's enough for me.
