Is this a thing I'm supposed to do? Bob, Bobby and Steve all have these fancy boards, so I'm getting the impression that this is a thing.
MEOW
Got a question or comment or whatever? Ask here! But as Bobby posted in his board... be kind, pretty please.

This is a thing and it has happened. What is the finest moment in your lunging career? Ha, it might be that one time when I was lunging and pretending to be a T-Rex in front of a friend's booth at FanExpo in Toronto and I leaned my head back and accidentally headbutted some poor person behind me. I think that's the OPPOSITE of finest moment, but you know...

Hey Stephanie. So i'm just curious if you've read any more Hellboy or any of the other Mignolaverse stuff since reading Midnight Circus? And if so what are your thoughts about it? Even though i haven't read Midnight Circus yet because its a little too pricey at the moment, i have started reading a lot of Mignolaverse comics since the beginning of the year and its starting to become one of my favorite things to read right now.
Thank you and thanks for always making me laugh whenever i listen to the podcast!

Thank you and thanks for always making me laugh whenever i listen to the podcast! Hey! Thanks so much for the nice words! You are awesome-o! As for Hellboy/Mignolaverse (I like that term!), outside of Hellboy: The Midnight Circus, I've also read: -BPRD: Vampire -BPRD: 1948 -The Amazing Screw-On Head and Other Curious Objects The BPRD stuff is pretty fantastic. Vampire is illustrated by Fabio Moon and Gabriel Ba and it's GORGEOUS. For no other reason, it should be checked out just for that, but it's also a great story, so BONUS! 1948 is a really cool story too... both (1948 and Vampire) are set in the past and I love the science and the supernatural elements that come into play during. You don't need any prior knowledge of the characters to be able to just jump on board and despite them being very established in the universe, you still get a really great understanding of who they are and what they stand for. It's fantastic. The Amazing Screw-On Head and Other Curious Objects might be one of my new favourite comics of all-time. Plus paired with the pilot for the TV series that Bryan Fuller helped produce, I'm just gaga for it right now. You can check out the videos for the pilot (that never got picked up) over on YouTube. I'm wanting to read more of the actual Hellboy stuff and a friend of mine has been giving me some Hellboy "Where to Start" tidbits. I'm one of those people who always feels like they need to start from the beginning, but I heard in the case of Hellboy, some of the early stuff isn't as strong as it is later, so it's tricky. I'm also holding out to buy the giant collector's editions of each volume, which makes it hard to just pick up on a whim. Long story short is that I've started exploring the Mignolaverse a bit more but I'm still far from being a veteran of it. I hope this answers your question!

Hey Stephanie, As a fairly new listener to the podcast, I am curious - what's up with you and lunging? There seems to be a story (stories?) behind that. I ask because, in addition to simple curiosity, I am a fencer so do a fair bit of lunging myself ... but not in public, as it seems you are want to do...

Haha... there's not too much of a story behind it, but it's something along the lines of this: Due to my job and my love of comics, I spent a lot of time at conventions. I also wind up at parties and such where mingling is mostly required of me. Every now and again I get left on my own (at conventions and at parties) and while I can usually hold my own, there are moments when awkward social stuff just gets in the way of me being a normal human being and when someone talks to me, I occasionally have a nervous reaction to it. On one such occasion, I was at FanExpo in Toronto and walking around by myself. I stopped by a friend's table to say hi and a fan was visiting him at that moment and my friend was telling him about the new job he was working on that was tied in with me. My friend then introduced this fan to me (even though my friend didn't really know this person at all) and the person just sort of gave me this weird awkward look and obliged by shaking my hand and such. However, the conversation didn't end and he kept trying to force an extremely awkward conversation to happen and I don't have a single clue what possessed me to do it, but mid-sentence, I lunged forward and made these weird little cat claws and meowed at him. My friend (and his girlfriend who was sitting with him) just burst into laughter and the person I was talking to smiled and just kind of accepted the strangeness of the whole thing. After that, it wound up being a bit of a nervous tick where I wound just start leaning and then all of a sudden it would turn into a weird little lunge. Lunges and Captain Morgan poses. I have no idea why. Bad photo but you get the idea (I think some TC fans that I've met have a couple lunging photos somewhere as well):

Ha! I wasn't sure what I expected but the lunge+cat claws maneuver was not it. Thanks for the explanation -- and for the visual!
PS. Have you seen the Lego Movie? I went last weekend after listening to several TC podcasts and Unikitty REALLY reminded me of you. Unikitty is pretty much the best (after Batman, of course)

While i've read a whole lot of Hellboy, BPRD, Abe Sapien and Lobster Johnson over the last few weeks, there's still so much i haven't read, its quite overwhelming but also fun at the same time. I'm also someone who needs to read from the beginning most of the time, but with most of this stuff it isn't really necessary.A lot of it are stand alone stories that don't really require a lot of knowledge of the previous work. Oh and that Amazing-Screw On Head looks and sounds hillarious, need to check out both the comic and the pilot when i have the time.

I highly recommend the Baltimore series of books from Mignolaverse. SOOOO good, and one of those I could re-read and never get bored.

Hello fellow Sept.18th birthday..er? Lol HIGH FIVE! I used to hate my birthday since it was so late in the year and I was younger than all of my friends growing up. Months mean so much to kids! As an athlete, it actually helped me, the Little League cutoff date used to be Aug.31st so I was one of the older kids on my team all the time. My poor daughter has a Feb. birthday and it seems to always get postponed due to snow or ice...we are southerners after all hahaha
