Yes for me Mr King is already my stand out writer of 2016 and probably produced my favorite books of 2015.
Your comment about the sub-text is spot on, he writes characters with buckets of self belief in their causes that when you align them to real life current terrorist / government situations the parallels become obvious and I think it makes you question assumptions - comics at its best!

I couldn't see a thread for this and I really wanted to quickly say how great this book has been, only 3 more issues left I think but this has been simply wonderful - a story with lots of grey areas, twists and turns and bundles of empathy so much so that still now I struggle to decide other than Kyle Raynor who is genuinely 'good' in this book. Tom King signed an exclusive deal with DC and they have captured someone special in my opinion he is writing at the top of his game right now and the art by Barnaby Bagenda is only matched by the exceptional colours of Romula Fajardo Jr. - I never used to pay enough attention to the talent on books but now when the quality is this good I take notice, big time!
Anyone else reading this?

Still the best theme tune in all podcast'dom! Another cracking episode, thanks guys/gal - International Women's Day couldn't have been better represented. It was very touching to hear everyone's fictional and real life inspirational women.
Just on the comics stuff I thought Black Widow was a stellar first issue a moment of genius by Waid / Samnee - if you want to get some buzz and momentum behind a character get a dream team and then produce an issue like this, super fast paced leaving ambiguity of the status quo in its wake, does it make you want to pick up the next issue...no, it makes you HAVE to!. It amuses me that I'm not coming off the back of their Daredevil run either as I only read 1 issue of that, but damn if it hasn't made me want to go back and get the lot.

So Idris Elba for Iron Fist? sorry couldn't resist
I thought it was a fantastic debate with great points being made by Bob, Bobby, Joey and Steph - what makes a great discussion is the various viewpoints being well thought out and well argued on all sides. I thought there were several thought provoking points made, Bob supported by Bobby made a touching reminder of the characters history and it can feel like by changing a characters origin or race you are saying there is something wrong with the original concept and following that thought process through that the creator was doing something wrong or had some hidden agenda. Steph's point that when dealing with a universe created by primarily straight white males that there will be few existing options for adding diversity and we should look at every chance prior to moving forward was valid perhaps it could work on this occasion, perhaps not I don't have the history with the characters story to know personally.
What I do know is Joey for me made a beautiful, eloquent and emotive monologue which convinced me that if people understand what the character is at their core, what their underlying story is and can represent that in the right way with the kind of passion Joey clearly has for the character then regardless of race it will capture the essence of who they are.
I don't think there is a right or wrong for this specific case - is it wrong to want the original Danny Rand represented? No, absolutely not. Is it wrong to want to consider changing his race to increase diversity while keeping the essence of the character and critical elements of their story? No, absolutely not.
It was a genuinely interesting debate, the best kind, the kind that makes me look at my thoughts and opinions and question them, that will never be a bad thing.

I would say it's a mixed bag, I think the artwork has been solid & good. There are some personal high points in the dialogue from time-to-time Miller really nails Batman's internal thoughts but the story itself is leaving me a bit like the current issue... cold.
That said I am still very much onboard with the series as I like the development of Bruce & Carrie's character and their current situations both mentally & physically. I'm hoping that there is more to The Master Race, some twist we won't see coming or clever story yet to be revealed.
If you are a fan of Miller's previous works then it's a no brainer get it! just Bruce's internal monologue alone will make you smile. If you are on the fence with his recent or stuff in general it might be worth waiting for the trade.

I love the art on this book and some new aspects in Vic's evolution as a character and power-set are very intriguing but the general story so far has left me a touch cold. I am going to continue with the book as I love the concept but when it goes twice-monthly it will need to bring an A game to keep me I'm afraid.

Mine's on order... waiting... waiting...
I'm now already worried that heart break awaits these totally fictional characters I have fallen completely in love with.

It is probably one of my favorite books being produced, a wonderful operatic level of family torture mixed with that glorious art - I never hear enough love for it and it really deserves it as it's fantastic.

I clearly don't use Amazon enough as I cannot see how to 'gift' those items for you - I was hoping as it was from your list it would know your address - Gahhhh...
If you can educate me I'll sort a couple of things out - but you are not getting the collection Sabrina so don't get too excited!

Bobby / Bob nailed my thoughts in regards to Rebirth - shipping twice a month will see me jump off some titles, I will bear the cost for 2 months but Cyborg, Justice League of America, Justice League even 'Tec & Grayson :/ if the teams / stories don't hit I am gone, perfect jumping off point! I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they get solid teams on Batman & Grayson as I have been collecting for so long it will kill me to drop those characters but I'm past the point of wanting to keep collecting just to say I have all the issues if the output is papp. However if Rebirth brings [Ganger] Wally back as a Flash I will forgive them almost anything

I had a dabble playing WH when I was at college, it was good fun but my friend was absolutely obsessed by it, he would buy all the figures and spend whole w/ends painting them and trading with others.
I've bought a few Titans comics just to see what the content / art was like and they were pretty good.

Thanks Bob nice little overview - given me a collectors mission to track down the Moonwing issues now - I have a Amalgam collection which is a weighty tome but I am not sure if it is the DC or Marvel version or the 'complete' [Vol.1!?!?] UK edition... more 'Tec work required.
So much good comics fun - I often wonder if either of the big 2 will ever have a fun event as their annual thing rather than these universe shattering clustermucks!
Next stop: Bruce Wayne: Agent oF S.H.I.E.L.D

Damnit there was a Moonwing book, I now have to search and get that! - I thought Amalgam was lots of silly fun, I still have Super Soldier + Dark Claw.
