Got my reminder an hour ago from Netflix that it is Live - so tonight I aim to dive straight in, watched the Trailer & definitely pumped for this series.

I reread Morrison's Doom Patrol late last year and really enjoyed it. Don't get me wrong I enjoyed this too & it is true that in these type of titles you can be less constrained, avoid all the events and tell some more brain twisting tales.
It was always going to be difficult for the book to live up to the hype because the whole Young Animal line came out of the blue & is hopefully more evidence that DC is not just listening but also identifying what perhaps the less vocal non-internet readership is looking for.
Just having a Doom Patrol book is great news!

I think it was a fun first issue, I wouldn't say it blew me away or left me gasping for the next issue but solid stuff.
I'm already thinking it is looking like a trade buy rather than a monthly book for me, if Issue 2 leaves me with the same feeling then I will trade wait. most interesting thing for me is who will end up on the team & where they are currently.

Hey All, Not sure of the right place to post this but wanted to share with the other TC forum dwellers.
I wrote a Sci Fi book and its available on Amazon. It deals with Artificial Intelligence, The Singularity, Genetic Engineering and Virtual reality.
www.amazon.co.uk/CTRL-Illusion-Sid-Visaed-ebook/dp/B01L9NNJLS/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1473162829&sr=8-5&keywords=ctrl I did the Cover Art too. "In the not so distant future the world has free energy, poverty is eliminated with health and education for all. Every fantasy can be indulged by simply slipping on a VR headset allowing individuals to live through their favourite stars eyes. Equality has been achieved and the rich manipulators exposed and stripped of their control.
All accomplished by the first sentient benevolent artificial intelligence secretly manipulating events for the betterment of mankind. It was created as the perfect system to help shepherd us through the singularity. It has no greed, no bias or hidden agendas driven only to ensure the continuation of humanity in the best world possible.
What could possibly go wrong?
As it turns out quite a lot as things start unravelling for Detective Rowan Cinn as he gets caught in a botched VR stars kidnapping days before his retirement. Soon he finds himself in a world of humanity manipulating AIs, secret islands, genetic engineered hunters and sentient stars.
It's a lot to take in while trying to deal with the small matter of why his family is vital to the future of humanity."
Not sure if it's anyone on here's kind of bag but if it is check it out & let me know your thoughts, if it's not for you but you have friends who might like it if you could share with them that would be a big help.
Thanks

Really great - I'm always a bit uneasy with 'Technology is evil' style stories but Remender took it in a unique direction for those final 2 issues, I liked Davey's argument to Debbie it seems the answer should be obvious but the more you think, consider and ponder other peoples situations in the world... not so easy a choice.
Wrapped up the story nicely but leaves a wealth of opportunity for a sequel - Oh and Art is just sublime, I love SGM's stuff and you can tell he loves this book it ticks his boxes and creatively some pages are stunning images.

I do struggle with comic book adaptations whether it be movie or TV, if it is too similar to the source material I personally get a little bored because I know exactly what is going to happen. However if it is too different then I get jaded by it not being true to the characters / concept - because it's all about me and what I want, Me, Me, Me...
I'm enjoying Preacher so far, it is different from the books but I think they looked at some of the characterisations especially where Ennis was exploring Americana stereotypes and chauvinism and decided that's going to be a hard sell to their target demographic.
Although Custer is a different character to the books he does have a lot of charm and I wonder if they are flipping things for TV with Jesse's arc being him rediscovering who he truly is because it feels like he & Tulip are flipped a bit in terms of their starting points.
Most importantly it has good production values and is great fun, I had a genuine LOL during EpIII when Cassidy added a bit off-Road Kill, going to stick with it I'm interested to see how this elseworlds take unfolds.

Well I am back on board Flash to see if it can regain its momentum [BOOM!] but I only dropped that recently so not sure it counts.
I'm on Titans definitely I still have mixed feelings on Booth's art but Wally is back baby & I will read anything my favorite scarlet speedster is in & there were glimpses of his character. I've not seen mention of Wally's Kids yet as he mentions Linda a lot and her not remembering him but if his Kids were lost in time too my Wally would be breaking reality itself to find them so I wonder has this Wally be tampered with even though he remembers pre-N52 stuff.
I am trying Green Arrow as it was just a beautiful well written book and I think I'll jump on to things as they are released, luckily some of my Image / Indy titles have stopped so funding is available DC don't miss your chance!
I was already getting Detective but I was kinda bored of it but I am right back in for this Detective Comics seems fun and characters are solid to me.
And Wonder Woman was gorgeous and I love the bi-monthly teams so that is a new book for me, this was probably the smartest move DC have made pulling together these teams for WW as it feels almost too good to be true - Lets hope it is an epic long run.

I do always take a sneaky peak at the bottom to see who has been on in the last 24 hrs and yes it does seem to have dropped off, even the Guest posts are rare.
With all the good content on the main site perhaps at the bottom of articles there could be a link to the Forum as comments sections are OK but for a proper debate / discussion nothing like a good Forum'in!

Me too, I have such high hopes for the series but growing up with these characters and being able to continue that journey is awesome, I like Abnett as a writer so hopefully he will give all those great characters their voices back - good times!

I think you are right it does hit a whole new level in terms of emotional impact if you have an investment in the characters. I grew up with a certain Teen Titan and for many years he was one of my favorite characters because of his flaws and the relationships he had and also he formed due to his personality, heart and his growth into being his own man.
Personally I think there have been as many Highs as Lows from DC since N'52 started, the spectacular mixed with the truly awful but I have genuine high hopes for rebirth.

Overall I think I agree with you, I wasn't convinced by the recruiting scene but some of that might be that knowing the characters from my time [awhile ago to be fair] reading the X-Men books it felt quite off.
I thought the action sequences were good overall and yes Apocalypse is such a imposing character in the books in terms of his size [yes there is that one bit in the film I suppose] that he just doesn't look anything special in this - the design doesn't help it just doesn't work for me.
Some nice character moments on the other side of the scale though helped keep me interested and fair play to totally contradict myself but Quicksilver is so off model as a character but I love what they have done with him in this franchise and his speed effects are fantastic.
Honestly I think it is below par for the quality of Super Hero movies coming out now but does have redeeming moments as you say Good not Great.

Loved the film, I think the Cap movie franchise along with the Marvel universe is getting the right casting and stories to make great super hero movies that also appeal to the general movie goer.
Other than a few forced moments the chemistry of the players just gets better every movie for me, I didn't really like AoU and although in general I like Joss Whedon but the Russo's seem to have captured the core of the characters.

I too read spoilers mainly because I was very close to dropping more DC books but let's just say I am super-mega-ultra-pumped for specifically the return of...
Can't wait till this is out and I can discuss how happy this had made me.

"The Sculptor is a graphic novel by American cartoonist Scott McCloud published in 2015. It tells of a David Smith whom Death gives 200 days to live in exchange for the power to sculpt anything he can imagine. Complications set in when David falls in love."
Apologies I cannot remember who put this forward / recommended this book, I know it was in the end of year best-of mix, I picked up this weighty tome based on the recommendation and absolutely loved it. I think David's feelings although extreme are something I think most of us can relate to, 'what will be our legacy', 'are we wasting our valuable time here', 'nothing ever being how you envision it, never good enough'.
I simply loved this book & gave it straight to my daughter - I don't want to spoil anything but it is clever, touching and heart-breaking - wonderful book.
