Hi, I've only been listening to the pod for a short time but I like your style! The passion you show and the banter makes this a great listen. I must admit that to avoid spoilers I'm listening to older shows right now. Name: Rich Where: Milton Keynes, UK How I Got Into Comics: My Dad bought me some early 90s Spider-Man, then my love grew via watching Batman Animated Series and checking out my library for Batman books. What I'm Reading: Monthly publication in the UK is a lot later and I'm behind with my reading so I seem to be 2 years behind the rest of the world! Am reading a few of the heavy hitters at Marvel such as Spider-Man, Iron Man and Captain America (Riri Williams has just started flying her suit, and I'm up to Clone Conspiracy in Spider-Man, and Vision considering killing Kang in All-New Avengers. Haven't got to Secret Empire yet). Trying to catch up on my Grayson, Detective Comics, Batman and The Flash and considering other DC books. Rich!! Welcome to the Forums! Sadly, there isn't much traffic around here these days, which I've come to understand is the way of things on almost all internet boards. That said, I'm glad that you reached out to us, and you've some great books in your "origin story"...and on this week's show, you just might hear all of ours! As ever, you can always reach the rest of the crew on Twitter or Instagram, or you can send me an e-mail!

Why not post some of it here so we can see? Mimi, My apologies for not giving you a big "Welcome!" to the Talking Comics Forum! Sadly, over the last year-or-so, most of regulars seem to have drifted away from using the Forum to converse, which is much the case everywhere...or so I'm told, anyway. That said, it's great to have you on-board, and I'll do a better job of checking in to see what's what over here. If you like, you can get in touch with me via e-mail at bobreyer@talkingcomicbooks.com Again, welcome to the Forum...and the family!

Bob, don't die. I'm your demographic: Does anybody remember the Challengers of the Unknown .... Howard Hawkes comparison ...... A reference to the best comics page ever all the way back in Captain America 113 ...... recognizing Popeye's laugh ......Tom Swift. I hear you, Bob, I hear you. --- Mike Antonucci Mike, Sorry that this is so seemingly late, but I swear on my copy of the Necronomicon that I posted something--and with a video, too--that seems to have vanished! Anyway, thanks for the kind words, and since I've chatted up some of those things on your list more-than-a-few times, I'll bet some folks around here have checked them out...particularly that Cap #113 page! Best, Bob

Simon,
I'll keep on the look-out, although Moon Knight and I have some difficult history, as I kept trying new series/iterations without ever feeling the Shadow-y vibe that attracted me to the character back in the early days!

I might have accidentally missed it if you talked about it on the show but I was wondering what you thought about The Terrifics series coming out soon? Hild, I don't think you've missed any discussions about The Terrifics, but my memory isn't what it once was, so you never know! As to my opinion on the subject, as a "pitch", it's a cute homage/knock-off that throws a nice dig Marvel's way--"Well, if you're not gonna publish Fantastic Four, we will!"--so I can get behind that. That said, without seeing how the actual book plays, it's hard to say anything about the tone and tenor, and that would be paramount to me as something paying proper tribute to the "World's Greatest Comic Magazine". Additionally, alone amongst all my colleagues both present-and-past (and apparently all of comicdom!), I'm not a big fan of Jeff Lemire's work. I recognize the qualities within it that touch other people so, but they don't speak to me somehow. I've tried, most recently with Black Hammer which you'd think would be in my wheel-house, but nothing seems to click with me. I'll try an issue or two of The Terrifics (heck, I bought the Gerard Way Doom Patrol for a while until the delays set in!), so maybe this will be the one?

I find myself going through a little mini Top-10 or Top-5 depending on the week every Wednesday and I only realized due to this thread that those titles I dropped tended to be read either 1st or 2nd 3 or 4 months in a row. I was totally unaware I was following a little mental scoring / elimination process by reading order every week, I'm kind of fascinated by it all now! Simon, I find that as titles ..."perk upwards" to the top of the pile, the next step is off my Pull List!

Hey Bob! I don't think you're reading Secret Empire. But I wanted to let you know, so far my favorite moment from it came from The Thing in the latest issue. Adam, I don't buy Secret Empire, but I do check in to see what's happening here and there, and let me say, it's always great when the clock strikes... ..." Clobberin' time"!

I save the best till last most times, however certain story line climaxes are too much for me & I just have to read a final arc issue immediately - It's the highest praise I can give any comic Simon, I'm with you on that; there's always the exception that proves the rule exists, right! If there was a great cliff-hanger, as on Paper Girls, I just might have to slip that issue onto the top of the pile!

Matt, I'm with you! I want the last book to be the capper for my reading, so that I walk away feeling really great about the issues that I've read and will talk about on the show, sort of like a special dessert, the creme brulee, after a fine meal! I agree except I don't have a great show to talk about it on Matt, That's so nice...but you can always send us an e-mail with your thoughts or comments, and they might end up on the show, too!

Karl, My apologies for being late, but welcome to the Forum...and thanks to Simon for stepping in! You've a nicely varied pull list there, I must say! A quick question; when you make your "reading stack", is your most anticipated book the first one you read, or the last? That's a good question for everybody! Last, definitely last.
