It's just that if you put out the book with a different artist, it's not the book you fell in love with. That's all.
And there's no reason a Marvel or DC can't also have a labor of love type project that will still make them money. Currently, they actually both do (DC has Sandman). These projects tend to become more evergreen and have a long tail as far as book sales are concerned. It's also smart business to cater to creators this way and cultivate a friendly and inviting workplace.

I completely agree (about the Marvel and labor of love thing), but the difference is that the funding isn't coming from their own pockets. These creators probably don't have to worry about a day-job because THIS is their day-job whereas indie creators probably have a day-job and they do these projects as time permits. And I'm fine with catering to the creators to a certain degree, but when your title is hitting a point where five months here, four months there, you're not getting a single issue out... it's cause for concern. If you cater too much then you run the risk of the creators getting spoiled and feeling entitled to not do their job. "It's fine, I'm 'So-and-So.' I don't have to do what they're paying me to do." Obviously it's not as cut-and-dry as that, and this bickering I'm doing isn't really going to change anything in the long run... It's simply that. Bickering. I so don't want to be that guy.

With Aja you're not going to get both. Yup, this. I wish it could be both, but it's not, and I'm perfectly fine with that. I'd rather have all Aja than a sub-par fill-in doing six of the pages or whatever. Or have Aja rush.

"It's fine, I'm 'So-and-So.' I don't have to do what they're paying me to do." I'm also fine with this. I just want the quality. The only thing I would have a problem with that is if Marvel decided to clamp down and put a fill-in artist on it or something.

With Aja you're not going to get both. He went through health issues, and he's slow. Just enjoy it when it comes out. Re-read the previous issue you also enjoyed in order to refresh yourself. Comics are meant to be fun; let's not as readers be slave-drivers expecting it my way or the highway. Love & Rockets barely ever comes out. Jaime Hernandez is slow. Geoff Darrow puts out work when he puts it out. same for Chris Ware. Some of the best take a long time. haha this made me think of a couple titles on my pull that have mostly been there "jsut in case". Powers Bureau was the first thing I had pulled, and I would get an issue one month, wait 2, wait 1, wait 3, and so on. I also have Scarlet (Bendis/Maleev) on there and I don't think there has been an issue of that in a couple years now Rocket Girl is becoming one of those titles for me. I was really enjoying it, they announced a few months off after issue 5, then the release of issue 6 keeps getting pushed back, and last I heard it will be May before we see it. It's still on my pull, but my daughter and I may have forgotten about it and moved on by the time it actually comes out again, which would be kind of a bummer.

I've liked the Fraction/Aja/Wu run, but I can see where a fresh start is needed. Bring on Lemire/Perez!!!

i recently purchased the entire run of hawkeye and i really did enjoy it. The art the story the whole thing was very cool.
And purchasing it all digitally i didn't suffer from any delays which sounds like it really hurt the run.
The only thing i didn't enjoy was the breaks from the core story that highlighted Kates adventures. I'm a Fan of Kate but it just seemed to sap the energy of a great story.

^ i've heard people say that same thing, and to each their own, but for me Kate & Lucky in LA was the best part of that chunk of the series. Loved those issues
