Hey Steve, I know that I am possibly getting a little ahead of this weeks coming podcast but did you read The Bunker from OniPress this week and if so, what are your quick thoughts on it?
Also, on the Manga front, a buddy of mine has bee reading Attack on Titan trades recently and loves the series. He recommended the TV show to me and I caught the first 4 episodes. As my first foray into the genre I was pleasantly surprised with the story. Have you read/watched any of Attack on Titan?

Hey Kiro, Actually, in picking up my books for the week The Bunker #1 was not among them. I'll see what I can do about that and I'll get back to you. I have not seen Attack on Titan just yet, but I've heard nothing but amazing things about it. I call feel myself slowly creeping into Anime Mode, so when that happens, I'll be sure to check it out. I honestly can't remember the last time I watched an entire series of an anime. Aside from recently watching Neon Genesis all the way through a few weeks back. My last full season might have been High School of the Dead. o_0

When I went in to get my books this past Thursday I was browsing around and came across one issue but the Bunker variant so I grabbed that too I loved it so much. Did you ever get your hands on a copy Steve?

Did you ever get your hands on a copy Steve? Unfortunately, I did not. My comic routine is all out of whack this past week. I've been crazy under the weather and haven't been spending very much time at home since the last podcast. I'm totally intrigued by the premise and hope to check it out soon though. I've got my tablet working properly again so I might just pick it up on Comixology in the coming days if all goes according to plan. Let us know what you think of it once you've had the chance to give it a read.

Hey Steve, was just listening to today's podcast and you mentioned that you wanted to listen to some science related podcasts. Here are a few that I listen to:
1) StarTalk Radio - hosted by the wonderful Niel deGrasse Tyson. I'm not up to date with it, but from the ones that I listened to, he makes the topics interesting and does not make you feel as though you are sitting through a lecture in school.
2) Quirks and Quarks - It's hosted by Bob McDonald, a science correspondent for the CBC here in Canada. This is a little more straight forward as they get right to the science , and while he's not as personable as deGrasse Tyson, it's still fun to listen to.
3) Edumacation - Hosted by Kevin Smith and Andy McElfresh. I thought I'd add a show that infuses some comedy into the material they talk about.
4) Science Fantastic with Michio Kaku - I don't have this just yet on my list, but I remembered Michio Kaku is another of the "Rockstars" of the scientific community. I googled to see if he has a show and it turns out he does.
Hope you find something you like.

Thanks for reminding me of it. Thanks very much for the other suggestions as well. I'll be sure to check them out as I make my way through many of the suggestions I've received since the show posted. I appreciate you taking the time to chime in.
Cheers!

Hi Steve, if you want a fun varied science podcast then look no further than 'the infinite monkey cage' with professor Brian cox and a comedian called robin nice. It's not an on going one, they do 6 week runs then have a few months off. They have a panel comprised of scientists from a chosen field with comedians who have scientific backgrounds and together they discuss the topic of the week. It's really fun but you pick up some good scientific knowledge while laughing :-)

This is right up my alley! Reminds me a bit of Explosions in the Sky, Red Sparrows, or Mogwai. I'm totally going to dive into this band with both feet. Thanks!

hahahaha I haven't heard anyone say Red Sparrows in years lol. Have you ever listened to Thee Silver Mt. Zion Memorial Orchestra? I was a fan of theirs when they were calling themselves The Silver Mt. Zion Memorial Orchestra and Tra-La-La Band. Also, if you haven't heard of them before, check out the first 3 albums from Dredg (anything after the first 3 weren't nearly as good sadly). Not Post Rock but an incredible musical experiance. Their frist two albums, seriously just press play, close your eyes and listen.

Did you finish True Detective yet Steve? Hey man, my apologies for my late reply, I've been incredibly busy as of late. Yes, True Detective was fantastic. My favorite aspect of the show was by far and away the performances by everyone involved. I've never had much respect for Matthew McConaughey. I've always seen him as RomCom fodder with not much to redeem him, save for his performance in Dazed and Confused, but now? Wow! I think the show overall was a hell of a ride, that said ... I do have some lingering qualms about a series of unresolved threads that were introduced but never never given the chance to be resolved. The final episode felt more like a race to the end of a standard cop procedural, and for me personally, that was disappointing. I understand that at the end of the day the show was about the relationship of Marty and Rust, but I would have liked some more exploration or explanation for all of the ritualistic implications of the killings. Like I said before, the finale felt in a few ways unrewarding and rushed. If I had to give it a score I would say that it's a 9/10 and that the only caveat is that it failed to put motivation and meaning behind the case that brought the two men together.

I 150% agree with your analysis. The ending did feel rushed. A lot of build up for the main villain but in such an indirect way that it did not put the focus on the guy himself as much as it could have. McConaughey's performace was amazing. I have tons of respect for him as an actor now for sure. Even Woody killed it in some episodes! I was real disappointed that it was only 8 episodes though when it seems like they could have done so much more for the story. Thanks for the response Steve!

I really think that even one more episode would have been sufficient. Or, at the very least, pepper the information throughout the series. In the end I feel like not bringing the religious and ritualistic implications to a close hampers you from having an interest in them at all should you choose to indulge yourself with a second watch of the series. I remember reading that the dude who wrote it didn't know how it was going to end even when they started shooting. For something so brief that kind of bothers me a bit. Hopefully season 2 will be better in terms of all aspects of the show being fully fleshed out.

Have you checked out the movie "The Knights of Badassdom" with Peter Dinkalage and Jason from True Blood. I feel like the humor elements would completely play into you and the fact that it's about LAARPing and medevil stuff that you would totally like it. Check it out
