Can this book get any better? I bought #3 for my daughter. She read it as soon as I handed it to her. She came in 30 minutes later and told me I had to read the issue right now. She was right! What an ending! I loved how shallow the blonde girl remained even after her "life changing" experience in #2. I thought Kamala's struggle with her new powers is being amazingly written. She reminds me of the boy whose voice in beginning to change and he can't control it. I found it interesting that Kamala thought she was doing the right thing in the bodega but doesn't understand everything about superheroing yet. I haven't read Batman 30 yet, but this is my book of the week so far.

Christian, I couldn't agree more about what a special book G.Willow Wilson, Adrian Alphona, and the rest of the team team is putting out! It is so good, at so many levels, it is remarkable! ps) I may be way off base, but I find an interesting parallel between Kamala's problems controlling her powers and the body-image issues that many young girls are driven to in our society.

I was on the fence after issue #2. Had a hard time getting used to her power set. Then I read inhuman #1. Is there a tie in there concerning the mist? Then I picked up #3 and of coarse I'm hooked. So is this an 8 issue series? I noticed on page two there was the title and it said 3 of 8, I do hope it goes on longer.

Christian, I am nearly 100% certain that the ""Part Three of Five" notation that the previous poster cites is regarding the first story arc, and not the Ms. Marvel book as a whole. I have not seen, to my memory, any word that this is a limited series. Of course, since I highly recommend this series...

Yeah, that's definitely just talking about the first arc. The series is doing well at almost 40k an issue, and I believe Iron Patriot is the only series that has been changed from a ongoing to a limited.

Christian
When you add in all the positive press and glowing reviews, the "cut line" for Ms. Marvel will be a much lower figure than most, so Kamala will be around a good while...I hope!

I ran upstairs to grab the copy of #3 off my daughter's bookshelf (running up the stairs was the point that I have finally admitted to myself that I am basically allowing my daughter to keep one of "my books" in her room even though I purchase Ms. Marvel for my little girl every month). Relieved to see the 3 of 5 arc and not a 3 of 8 series. The Reyer Curse has been put on hold for this title. My daughter (and her Dad) breathed a sigh of relief!

If anything, Ms Marvel's almost already hit its floor. The sell-through for this thing is ridiculous.
What a good book! Really enjoyed the sight gags this time. Reminds me of what Rob Guillory does with Chew.

Chris, Considering the high standard that the first issue set, it is amazing to me that each new Ms. Marvel strikes me as better than the one before, and always a breath of fresh air!

With the #1 doing 50,286 physical copies and the #2 doing 38,357, I think their coasting spot will be in the 39k range. That is a very respectable number for a series about a brand new character that isn't tied into any of the franchise book such as X-men, Avengers, and Spider-man.

Wow. Issue 3.. just wow. What a fantastically paced read. Each moment in this series so far has been earned - a gradual development without veing too decompressed. Kamala's situation - and her understanding of it are evolving and just as she seems to be getting a handle on things - BAM! - something drastic happens to change the course of the story. Speaking of evolving, the costume/persona she adopts in the last scene is of Captain Marvel, not the Ms Marvel of the previous issue. This suggests to me she is working through Carol Danvers' identities ad dhe gets closer to her own unique alter ego (I imagine this won't happen until issue 5 as the arc closes out). I am loving everything about this story and the world being built (those little throwaway background details are so great).
ps re: Iron Patriot: I read that it was planned as a limited series with the *possibility* of being made into an ongoing. With the sales on the low side they made the call early on that they would stick to 5. We were talking in my lcs about Marvel making that decision even before orders for issue 2 were in, which would be very odd for an ongoing to be cancelled so fast, but is reasonable in this situation.

Issue 6 was great! I liked the new artist and while the guest appearance seemed forced at first i really liked the writing and the interaction between Kamala and the other person. This series just keeps being very entertaining, only thing she needs now is theme music (if you read the comic you'll understand)
