Official casting announced! This movie is gonna be huge
Jared Leto as Joker
Will Smith as Deadshot
Tom Hardy as Rick Flagg
Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn
Jai Courtney as Boomerang (finally cast as an Australian)
Cara Delevinge as Enchantress
I'm more excited for this than BvS
Thoughts?

I'm not familiar enough with the series to make an educated comment but I am instantly put off by half the cast.
But I love Will Smith and I'm desperate to see Harley Quinn on screen. I think it's time to educate myself and evaluate my feelings on the cast then.

I was never bothered by the Heath Ledger casting, but Anne Hathaway as Catwoman and Scarlet Johansson as Black Widow annoyed me because they are characters I love but they are actresses I really don't love. And both turned me around completely. I can't read the characters without hearing them now, in the best way possible. But Tom Hardy. Never seen a movie I didn't like him in: Wuthering Heights, Bronson, Warrior, Lawless, DKR, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, Rock'n'Rolla. Take all my money. Also in case you're looking to read any Suicide Squad books, its hard to find any one with this line-up. John Ostrander wrote a great Deadshot mini as well as a Suicide Squad run focused on Rick Flagg which is amazing. You already love Harley so no need there. Captain Boomerang is genuinely frightening in Identity Crisis. Only one I'm unfamiliar with is Enchantress. |

Decent casting I think, personally Will Smith gets on my nerves but I can see why they've cast him. He'll definitely draw people into a film that a lot of people outside of comics wouldn't care about.
Cara Delevinge is a bit of a wildcard, not having done much acting.

I love Tom Hardy to an unhealthy degree. I'm not actually super familiar with the team, so really YAY TOM HARDY!!!! is my only comment. Because, Tom Hardy, y'all.

I don't get the casting choices here at all. Especially Will Smith he's a name so he got the role but I have doubts he has what it takes to do Deadshot justice. Margot Robbie seems to be the only choice that doesn't annoy me. Jared Leto as Joker is in the Will Smith boat not seeing this at all. I've seen him in a few things but not enough to say if he has what it takes to play such an iconic character as the Joker. I shouldn't be surprised i've hated just about every casting choice that has been made so far in the DCU sometimes it sucks to be such a longtime DC fan. Then again it's only a movie so I'll probably see it once and it will never enter my thoughts again.

Margot Robbie is an inspired casting choice. Will Smith will be solid and charismatic because Will Smith is solid and charismatic, and he plays Will Smith so damn good! I like Tom Hardy a lot, and I'm excited to see what he can do, but the more thought I put into Jared Leto as Joker, the more excited I am to see it. I don't know if it will be good or not, but my interest is certainly piqued. He's a character actor, and I really think we could potentially see something really special there.

They've got a bunch of very talented people for a title like this. Are we so jaded as comic book fans that this doesn't blow your mind?
Anyone that has doubts over Leto playing the Joker just needs a Chapter 27/Dallas Buyers Club viewing to see his range. Of course there is the worry that he's such an OTT actor that he'll make a bizarre choice which will annoy everyone but its exciting to see someone with this pedigree take on the clown.
Will Smith won't be phoning it in either as I'm sure he's been guaranteed top-billing.

Scott Eastwood as Steve Trevor and Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje as Killer Croc. Don't know who Scott Eastwood is, but I love Adewale. Cool choice for Croc. From David Ayer's tweets there's definitely time spent in Arkham in this movie which is exciting. I imagine lots of villain cameos and appearances.

Also very smart to drop all this the day before May 4 when the internet will no doubt blow up with Star Wars news.

There was no clue about Katana. Its funny it was announced within the same week as her costumed appearance on Arrow. Can't wait, she's one of those characters for me, like Domino from X-Force, who never really gets attention or when she does its just not a good book. I hope this makes her more front and centre at DC |

Wow they seem to have no security on set for this movie. I kind of like it though. Generally I avoid spoilers and even trailers bar the odd teaser, but this feels a lot less secretive and serious than all the other big comic book movies.
But Batman is in Suicide Squad. Why do I get the feeling this will be a bigger success than BvS both financially and critically?
