What ideas for a comic book story do you have? Why do you think they would work well, or why would you like to see them? Which artists and writers would be your ideal team to work on your ideas?
One idea I've had is of an alien crash-landing on Earth, and being abducted by a major government somewhere, could be Russia, China, America, anywhere, and the comic book is the story of the alien's escape from the human authorities, and his journey back to his ship, so that he can escape back to his home world. Or, a variation of that story could be that the comic book tells the story of the alien special forces team sent to Earth to rescue their comrade. Only, the alien home world doesn't want the humans to know they exist, and they don't understand human speech or mannerisms or machines, so not only do these aliens have to conduct the rescue operation in secret, but there's also the added element of Earth being flipped around so that it becomes the mysterious, foreboding alien land.
Writing that, it seemed to me that the whole premise at the beginning of a government somewhere abducting the first intelligent UFO ever encountered by humans seems like something that wouldn't really happen today. I think in today's world, people would go about that situation in a better manner. That seems more like something that would happen in the world of the Cold War. So, perhaps this comic book would have a 60s spy noir aesthetic, a bit like the video game Counter Spy maybe, in terms of art style. I suppose it could possibly work as a humorous story too, come to think of it, given the outlandish premise.
Who would you get to write and create the art for this crazy comic book idea? I think I'd want Ed Brubaker penning if it were serious, and I dunno who if it were more humorous.
I think it could also be interesting to see comic book stories which look at current events going on today, or that have recently happened. For example, a look at a Syrian revolutionary who, optimistic and passionate for change in his country, joins someone like the Free Syrian Army during the early days of the revolution, and eventually becomes disillusioned with the revolution as the story progresses. Or perhaps a story about a Mexican hitman working for a prominent cartel and the pursuit of him by the authorities, as well as by vigilantes, exploring issues like corruption, the war on drugs, poverty, injustice and so on.
Also, I think it would be cool to see more comics about historical events, or set in historical settings. For example, a comic book about the Tupamaros in Uruguay during the dictatorship there, or a comic book about the life of Che Guevara.
