I absolutely guarantee this will be the best movie you've seen in the past couple years. I would grade this 11 out of 10. </div>I have seen this and i think it has best picture at the Oscars written all over it.

Troll hunter 7/10 what an interesting and well done independant movie. If you hate sub-titles, don't watch, but otherwise this was a surprising treat and a novel idea.....but the ending kind of stunk or else it would have been higher

Finally saw Snowpiercer last night. I haven't read the comic but I absolutely loved it. The twists were genuine twists and what I especially enjoyed was that they were twists that you wouldn't really want. I had this idea in my head of how the movie was going to end and it departed so far from that that I was genuinely suprised. The monologue Chris Evans has towards the end is amazing and really disturbing.
The tone is something I was not so much put off by but really had to get used to. I guess it's a Bong Joon-ho thing, and it really made me dislike The Host, but in this it felt right. Tilda Swinton was crazy good. I don't know whether I love her or hate her after this, I've never seen such a hateable character in a film before.
I'm curious though, has anyone read the comics? Because I'm aware it departed from the original story alot and I'd love to know what those differences are as I'm worried that because I loved the movie so much, the differences in the comic may make me enjoy reading it less.

Because I'm aware it departed from the original story alot and I'd love to know what those differences are as I'm worried that because I loved the movie so much, the differences in the comic may make me enjoy reading it less. I've read Volume 1, which I'm pretty sure is what the film is based on. I read it ages ago though, so unfortunately I don't remember it too, too well off the top of my head. I remember that the incredibly bleak ending kind of reminded me of Planet of the Apes, though. But in general, in terms of tone, from what I remember, the comic felt like an Orwell-esque story that was heavy on the whole dystopian, fascist Europe. I don't mean heavy as in heavy-handed though, but rather that, now that I think of it, in terms of tone it's similar to reading something like 1984, or something like that. That's from what I can recall at least. If you asked specifically which parts or aspects of the movie you think may differ significantly from the comic, maybe that might jog my memory more, and I could provide a better response.

I just saw Pride, the story of the London gay and lesbian group that supported the striking Welsh miners during the Thatcher era, and it was SO GOOD. 9/10. If you have been losing your faith in humanity recently watch this film, it's uplifting and funny and charming and touching. Can't recommend it highly enough.

8/10 A great movie, but really, really sad. I was kinda surprised, since the dog scene didn't get to me nearly as much as those kinds of scenes in movies usually do, but the confrontation with the cops, and all that really got to me.

8.5/10. This movie was badass, and kinda left me with a craving for watching City of God. There has to be a good Warriors comic or video game, since this movie is perfect for a comic book or video game adaptation. I can imagine an awesome Warriors-inspired Judge Dredd story set in Megacity One, but with the Judges taking a background role, with the focus on the gangs, like in this movie.

8/10 This movie was great, but I felt it could have been better. It had a lot of interesting themes and ideas incorporated into it like artificial intelligence, distrust and conflict within the Avengers themselves, whether the Avengers are actually as much a force for good as they think they are, and probably others it touched on that I'm forgetting. While these themes and ideas were interesting and enriched the movie, and added more layers and complexity to it, I felt that they weren't explored as much as they could have been, and not enough actually came of all this thought and ideas. I liked the addition of the twins, with Scarlet Witch being an interesting character and definitely adding something more to the film. Quicksilver hardly said anything at all in the film, but was nonetheless a fun addition. I also thought more could have definitely been done with Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver, and that those two characters and back-stories were under-utilized as well. Overall, it was a great movie, but didn't go anywhere the Marvel movies haven't taken the audience to with their previous films, and didn't push the envelope as much as I thought it showed the potential to, for Marvel movies. I thought it improved on the first Avengers movie, and was on par with Captain America: the Winter Soldier. But, it wasn't better than Winter Soldier in my opinion, although it definitely could have been. I hardly noticed that it was 2 and a half hours long though; it never felt slow to me. Maybe one reason why the themes and ideas I mentioned, and the twins, were under-utilized and underdeveloped was because Joss Whedon had too much going on in the film, and too much on his plate to juggle at once.

Gone Girl:
This was an excellent movie that remaind faithful to its source material. I finished the book before watching the film and believe they did a good job streamlining the story. I can't recommend this movie enough 9/10.
