Welcome to a very special edition of The Missfits. On this week’s show, we’re joined by one of our new contributors and guest Missfit, Miss Nikki Alfaro as well as the co-writer of Gotham Academy (Oct 1) and the new Batgirl (Oct 8), Brenden Fletcher. Nikki and Brenden love pizza so you just KNOW that they’re good people. The topic of this week’s show is our favourite comic book movies and it’s a fun topic that you don’t want to miss our discussion on. PLUS there’s some talk of Brenden’s books, so that’s also something that you’ll want to listen to as well. Before we get into that though, we do our regular ol’ recommendations segment and things that we love in the week since we last recorded (it’s like we’re all fancy and professional!) are: Outlander, Sensation Comics featuring Wonder Woman, Herzog: The Collection, Michael Cho’s Shoplifter, Legend of Korra, Stumptown Vol.1, Seconds and Ruby Sparks. The Missfits are: Stephanie Cooke – hellocookieMara Wood – megamaramonMelissa Megan – lissapunchThe Missfits on Twitter – @the_Missfits AND our email is podcast@the-missfits.com

I had a blast listening to the new Missfits episode! I'm very much looking forward to both Gotham Academy and Batgirl and have preordered every issue thus far! I've greatly enjoyed listening to Brenden Fletcher as a guest on both the Missfits and Talking Comics- he seems like a very smart and talented dude and I'm intrigued to see what directions he and Cameron Stewart take Barbara Gordon in with their new take on one of my favorite DC characters, Batgirl! Oh, and I agree that Sensation Comics Featuring Wonder Woman is a promising new series and every fan, new and old alike, should be preordering this book from their retailers- we need to see more books like this! Thanks for another awesome episode of the podcast! Well done!

I can't wait to hear this!! I ate pizza all day yesterday, so you guys were speaking to my heart.
I just wanted to weigh in with my favorite comic book movies, in no particular order:
1) Iron Man 2) The Avengers 3) Superman (Christopher Reeves) 4) The Incredibles (okay, that's cheating... but it's LIKE they were from a comic...) 5) Captain America 2
Oh, by the way... I just finished watching Only Lovers Left Alive (Hiddleston and Swinton as vampires... shivers), and Hiddleston as Adam in that movie looks EXACTLY like Morpheus from Sandman should. If it weren't for the fact that they probably wouldn't cast him in a DC film, Hiddleston is my fantasy pick for Morpheus.

You are all slowly convincing me to check out Outlander. I am almost won over. Almost. Winter Soldier is absolutely my favourite comic book film. I go back and forth on whether I like Scott Pilgrim; I like parts of it a lot but when I consider it as a whole movie I am ambivalent. I am so glad that Brenden mentioned Road To Perdition. I studied it in high school and it was utterly captivating. The lighting and the framing is just fantastic, particularly the use of windows and hallways. One of those rare creations where you are happy to over-analyse it in a classroom setting =P A Captain Marvel movie would be great but how about a Ms Marvel movie with Kamala? Superhero films need a good shot of diversity. (Loved Gotham Academy, can't wait for the new Batgirl!)

But only if you like historical fiction with an element of science fiction and a drizzle of romance. And kilts. First episode is free on YouTube!

Ok, I wasn't on this episode so I'm putting in my two cents! My favorite comic book films (not in order) would have to be:
1. Scott Pilgrim 2. Kick Ass (don't even mention KA 2 to me, I will hurt you) 3. Guardians of the Galaxy 4. X-Men First Class 5. The Avengers

After we watched it he gave me a butterfly knife (totally not sharpened at all because he didn't trust me not to hurt myself but hey) *wipes a tear out of eye*
