There was a LOT of big news to talk about since we were last all together to chat, so we talk about the She-Thor news, Sam Wilson as Captain America and of course, the amazing new Batgirl redesign. Then we get into some of our favourite things aka our recommendations for this week (or month, really). Things included are: Sheltered, The Strain, Battle Royale, Crunchyroll Summer Season, Rocket Raccoon, The Mindy Project and The Sims 3. Then we get into our topic for the week which is all about the works of Neil Gaiman. Everything from the movie adaptations to his novels, comics, kids books and more. And what do you guys all think of our new Missfits Banner design? It’s done by the wonderful Hanie Mohd and we LOVE it. If you like her work, make sure you’re checking out her stuff online and letting her know how rad she is. The Missfits are: Stephanie Cooke – hellocookieMara Wood – megamaramonMelissa Megan – lissapunchThe Missfits on Twitter – @the_Missfits AND our email is themissfits@talkingcomicbooks.com

Great episode, love Neil Gaiman (who doesn't?) I live in Portsmouth where Neil is from and was lucky enough to see him unveil a street re-named in his honour (The ocean at the end of the lane)followed by a book reading and signing not so long ago. Such a nice dude.

Another great podcast, ladies!
I didn't want to comment on this episode before i got the chance to experience some of Neil Gaiman's work, because other than a couple of Dr. Who episodes that weren't particulary memorable to me i've never seen or read any of his work, not even Sandman(i know, i should be ashamed, but i will get to it one day...)
So when i heard on the podcast that the movie Stardust was based on a novel by Gaiman i decided to watch it on Netflix. I was suprised to see how good it was because it didn't look like anything special to me before i watched it, but i really liked it. I liked the way it looked, the story, and the performances.Overall a really enjoyable movie.
So thanks for the recommendation!
Oh and by the way, that new Missfits design looks pretty badass!

Steph, I forget if it was Melissa or Mara discussing the book, 'Sheltered', but there was a question about the future of the book. I saw at the end of issue #10 there is a quick blurb about issue #11 starting the "final arc". I hope this clarifies and helps y'all out. Thanks for a great podcast - I just started listening. And your discussion about how deep you've developed your Sims 3 game was both inspirational and...(forgive me) hilarious. Keep up the good work! ![](//storage.proboards.com/5470120/thumbnailer/iH3O6HXeWIJ9BkApld_w.png)

The Sims 3 is amazing and horrifying all at the same time. I may have to make a Downton Abbey house. And it was Melissa discussing Sheltered, so I can't imagine she'll be happy it's ending but hopefully it's a great ending.

Who knows! Sometimes things are even better when you know they're a brief run. I really enjoyed The Wake, even knowing it was just going to be 10 issues long. It seems (at least in TV shows) that writers/creators lose their potency/creativity when they don't have an end in sight. I loved the series X-Files/Smallville/Buffy, but they all seemed to lose their power somewhere after the 3rd season. I think it's then that the writers are like, "Oh, crap. I've got to keep this thing going somehow." Doctor Who seems like an exception because of the format of the ever-changing lead role. But, generally, I think stories are best when they have an end in sight. Just my thoughts!

I have been loving Sheltered, but it's always better for a series to end while it's in a great place than be stretched on too long and overstay it's welcome. And, saying our discussions are hilarious is NEVER something requiring forgiveness! I strive to put a few smiles on our listeners' faces with every episode. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)
