Also stay after the credits!

Hate to disagree, but...... errrrr..... yeah - I have to disagree, I thought it dragged a bit, and my hopes that the pre movie Quicksilver stuff we'd seen were just the worst bits, sadly I disliked the character even more once I saw him on the big screen.
Although I will agree about staying after credits - it's well worth it, and will no doubt cause endless discussion till the next flick

His costume was ridicule though. Besides that I really loved that film. There are things to complain about, but for me it would be nitpicking.

I liked the film, and consider it the best X-Movie. Loved Jackman and McAvoy's acting and actually found Fassbender and Lawrence wooden at times. Quicksilver turned out to be better than I expected, I still don't like his look, but the sequence at the Pentagon was just great! I hope he gets a better costume in the next movie.
And man, the after credits scene, I geeked out so ad by hearing the name, seeing his face and noticing 4 horsemen in the background!!!!!

I mean are they going to have a full line-up from the comics or do you think they'll mix and match? I would say that Death is either going to be a way to bring Banshee back or introduce Gambit, and I'd expect they'll go with Sunfire for Famine, but it's going to be interesting to see who they pick!

I would assume spoilers are ok in the thread as is a movie discussion, but anyways....that would be a good way to bring back Banshee actually. I believe there might be a mix and match from different versions.

I really enjoyed it. But i need to watch it again to determine where it sits on my x-men and comic book movie rankings.

Saw it today, and I have to agree it is most definitely in the top 3 of best comic book movies. The final 5 minutes of the movie made up for so many years of bad.

I saw it last night and liked it a lot. I am not as familiar with the X-Men beyond the movies (and I haven't even seen all of the movies), so others who are more acquainted with the source material might have nitpicks, but I thought it did a great job of making a convoluted storyline easy to follow and entertaining. I love James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender anyway, and Hugh Jackman is always great, but I have to say Quicksilver was my favorite. I wish there had been more of him - the Avengers version will have a lot to live up to. I thought Blink looked really cool too, loved her power. Any recs for comic storylines with her would be appreciated!

And is good that you enjoyed and want more Quicksilver, since he will have a bigger role in the next X-Men movie (X-Men: Age of Apocalypse). And yeah, Marvel Studios now need to work on make their Quicksilver likable (and based on what I saw on Godzilla, we are not on the right path with him on the role).

I will definitely check those out! I'm cautiously hopeful about the MCU version of Quicksilver. I agree that Aaron Taylor-Johnson was pretty bland in Godzilla, but I thought he was great in Nowhere Boy and good in the first Kick-Ass (I didn't see the sequel), so I'm hoping he can do more with Whedon's script than he was given to do in Godzilla. I do think Evan Peters is sort of more immediately likeable, though, and I feel like I'll end up favoring his version.

I kind of want to through a devil's advocate question out there, do you guys think that due so many bad choices made throughout the X-franchise that our expectations for this film were set at a much lower level than say a Marvel Studios production? I loved the movie, but I wonder if my low expectations are the primary contributing factor to why I thoroughly enjoyed this film on a Cap 2 or Avengers level. Thoughts?

Thoughts? it definitely helps, but I enjoyed first class a whole bunch. I also liked x-men wolverine. Either way it's my favorite super hero film this year. Winter Soldier is a close second.

Yep, I think it definitely benefitted from my lowered expectations. I did like it a whole, whole lot, but there are a lot of nits I could pick if someone wanted to really get down to it. More nits than a typical Marvel Studios picture.
