Newsarama announced that 2099 will be getting its own ongoing series with Peter David writing and Will Sliney (Fearless Defenders) will be on art. I'm pretty stoked to see where this series could go, what about you guys?

YES! I loved the first 2099 series when it was running and I read it again recently (a large chunk of it, anyway) and its still holds up!

I barely remember any of the 2099 stuff. But I've always loved that costume so I'll be reading this.

well SM2099 is back and I have only 2 thoughts:
1: I dig the setup, and I am really hoping Peter David takes Miguel in the direction it seems like he's aiming at in the cliffhanger at the end of #1.
2: while it didn't make a lot of difference for most of the story, there were a lot of references to stuff that don't make a lot of sense without secret wars wrapping up. Don't want to spoil anything, but several things introduced in this issue rely on knowing how secret wars panned out and/or what Miguel was doing during, but at the same time a lot of the stuff going on was stuff from before secret wars and seems like it ignores that SW ever happened.
I really wish this hadn't come out until the event ended and now I'm kind of worried about how the rest of the new #1's will feel without having SW tied up yet. personally I feel like i would have enjoyed it more if I knew how SW ended and why it seems like nobody knows it even happened...
I did enjoy the book though and want to see what happens next, so it didn't drive me away, but it could have been better if I'd had some closure for SW.
