The problem was that I was the only one buying it so it didn't really incentivize the store to continue carrying it after issue 2

for me, the biggest issue that i'm having--and the thing i'm trying to keep in mind when i'm making my decisions--is "am i reading this because i love it, or because i feel like i have to?" there are so many books that i was reading in order to feel like i was savvy to what was going on in the various universes, or because there was some kind of major buzz around it, or something similar. i still feel like i have more to trim based on this, but i've decided that i really have to love something in order to keep it.
life is too short to waste reading mediocre books that marvel and dc say that i have to.

Sometimes I also find myself looking at some titles and asking myself am I reading this because I really enjoy it and want to or am I reading it just to stay current? Or even just reading it because I like the creative team and feel obliged to buy it. I really hate cutting books which is the biggest problem for me.

Bleeding Cool has an interesting post pondering which company will be the first to raise prices on regular floppies to from 3.99 to 4.99...http://www.bleedingcool.com/2014/01/16/will-we-see-a-4-99-price-point-in-2014/
If 20-24 page comics were upped to 4.99 an issue and 2.99 comics increase to 3.99, I would trim the shit out of my already slim pull list. I'm still hesitant to buy 3.99 books. I think I only have two 3.99 books now, Batman and Batman '66!

I'm calling Marvel for that, even before they got their Disney overlords, Marvel have paved the way for price increases the last 15 years or so of comics. Another note: When I organise my pull list each week, I take a look at what else is out that week and ask myself if I'd rather be buying that. It's working out pretty well so far, I'd say I'm at like 80% killer 20% filler so there is still room for improvement!

It's time for what I like to call my New Year Purge, of all the books that have been mediocore or below, to make room for the upcoming titles this year.
Moved to trade status: Saga Walking Dead Superior Foes Bloodshot Eternal Warrior Archer and Armstrong
Cut completely: Mighty Avengers Young Avengers Batgirl Nightwing Batman and .... Invincible Lazarus Velvet

Which makes me glad I am not currently buying there books. I just wait for things to come to Marvel unlimited. If DC and other publishers were to follow suit I would have a hard time justifying sticking with the hobby. Principle alone would make it hard for me to spend $5 on a regular size comic. Just to much.

Yeah quality goes a long way. The some of the recent Batman books have been like $7 and $5 but it has never been in question that I'd buy it. Others books it can be a deal breaker. We'll see what happens but I hope it's just a rumor.

We'll probably hit the $5 comic here sometime in the next 3-5 years but I think it's more likely we'll move to a $3.50/$3.99 price range in the near future rather than the alternative. If a comic justifies it, it's understandable but I don't see that being a widespread thing just yet. I see digital becoming a norm sooner than $5 comics

I buy the odd thing if it's on sale and I really want to read it but I just can't bring my self to buy something that isn't a physical copy. Especially not for the same price. I have always thought that digital should be cheaper. You don't actually own anything. Jair wierd to me I guess. Also last year I went to a small convention here in town and made over $600 selling old back issues I didn't want to keep. Can't so that with digital.

Besides the occasional Infinity comic I'd much rather do physical than digital. I'm pretty sure most people still do (read: most). I was just making the point that a focus on digital is more likely to happen before a five dollar comic does. If/when it does happen, it won't be for a while.
