Talking Games Episode #1: Titanfall + Dark Souls II = LoveHave you been playing Dark Souls II? What do you think of Titanfall? Is Marvel Heroes worth investing money in? The first episode of Talking Games is here! Your hosts Steve Seigh, Bobby Shortle, Jacqui Turner, and Justin Townson break down how they got into gaming, what 90′s mascot they love the most, and what old games they want to see made new again. Hey everyone, so the very first episode of Talking Games is here!
What are your opinions on the games mentioed on the show? Where do your origins as a gamer lie? And most important of all, does beating someone with a what appears to be a dildo and stealing spoons (maybe The Tick is the one who set that mission?) make Thief an appealing title to you? Also, I'm sure the guys would love to hear general impressions of the podcast.
Have your say, right here!!
Annnnnnnnnnd… we say it on the show, but just in case you missed it, the Talking Games crew on Twitter are: Bobby: @bobbyshortle Steve: @dead_anchoress Jacqui: jacquiturnerJustin: @ joroak

Personally, I don't remember a time in my life when I haven't had a system to play games on. Going WAAAAAAAAAY back to when I was a kid and we had a Sinclair Spectrum 48k (yes, a whole 48k of memory!) and games were on cassette tapes. I can remember Dad used to buy magazines that would come with games written in code for the Spectrum and he'd spend hours typing it up and then the system would record the game onto a tape. The noise they made when loading was something akin to that of a dial-up modem and they took bloody ages!
The game I have biggest memories of from those days was Jet Set Willie. It was pretty damn hard and even as a kid I just kept going back to it again and again. Never got close to beating it, though!
I've been gaming ever since, from NES, Super NES, N64, Wii, Dreamcast, Atari Jaguar, PC PSone/2/3/4, Xbox/360 and a few handhelds, gaming has always been a big part of my life.

We got an NES when I was 5. My first real gaming memory was the "bugs bunny birthday blowout" game, my dad and I had a lot of fun with it. I remember he got real far one night so he left the system on with the game on pause overnight so when I woke up we could play the new level together.

Really good first episode guys! I liked everything about it, the intro music, the way the conversation flowed and the topics that you were talking about. Most podcasts i listen to are either about comics or about wrestling, the only two gaming podcast i listen to are IGN's Podcast Beyond and Nintendo Voice Chat, but i think i'm also going to keep listening to this one.
Gaming has always been in my life, i remember being like 5 or 6 and seeing Super Mario Bros for the first time on the NES at my cousin's house and i knew at that moment i wanted to be a gamer and i still am more than twenty years later. There are so many moments in my life that have something to do with gaming its ridiculous, playing Duck Hunt with my dad(i still hate that damn dog that would always laugh at you), playing Mega Man 2 for the whole summer(even when i was on vacation), playing the first Mario Kart with my sister and my friends, the first time i saw Link to the Past and being absolutely blown away by it, playing a LOT of amazing RPGs on my own, just too much to talk about.

Really great episode guys! The flow was absolutely flawless and the discussion overall was done to perfection. Great job hosting the show Steve and you would never guess this was Justin's first time doing a podcast at all.
I've always been a gamer my whole life, since I was about 6 I had the SNES as my first console and was consumed by Super Mario World, Top Gear and various NHL games that I would play with my dad. While I havent owned a Nintendo console since the N64 (Playstation/PC guy) that company will always have a soft spot in my heart when it comes to gaming and I will defend them to the end even if they arent the juggernaut they used to be. I hope to eventually get a WiiU when money permits. Really looking forward to picking up DS2 though!

Eventually I'll get around to getting a wii u myself. Once smash comes out I'll be getting one. I have a soft spot for Nintendo as well, I want to see them do well, but they aren't making it easy lately.

I usually refer to Nintendo now as that child who isnt making the wisest life choices but you still love them no less. I find it being difficult at times to be a defender of Nintendo but I just cant turn my back on the company who made me a gamer. Without them I probably would not be into video games like I am today. I'm waiting for there to be a decent amount of games I want on the WiiU before purchasing it myself, perhaps I'll set aside part of this years tax return for one.

I'm sure we'll get into it on the show, but that system needs a dramatic price cut. The game pad is such a wasted idea that is keeping the system out of people's hands due to the fact it jacks up the cost

The price is exactly whats putting me off from buying it, hell I somewhat even regret buying the PS4 at launch do to a lack of games but I'm also glad I did because of the shortage. If Nintendo would even give the smallest of drops it would probably be enough to get me to buy one.

Also something I didnt note in my initial post, the podcast was done so well I found myself wanting chiming in and realized I was pulling a Dr. Malcolm talking to myself in the car.

Great show guys listening to it now alsmost done. I couldn't agree more about Titanfall. I got to play for a few hours last night with a couple of my cousins and it was awesome. They are hard core FPS players and I am have decent but usually die way more than I get kills but this made me feel like I was right in the fight. I didn't know if I was killing human players or ai drones I just knew I was killing something and contributing which was awesome. In COD i usually just drag my team down. It was amaziing and the ability you have to move around the map is great. I had kind of thought that the Titan thing would be the focus and thats all I would want to do but I often found myself have so much fun as a pilot that I didn't even get in my titan. If this was only on XBOX 1 I would have a hard time not breaking down and buying one but with it coming on XBOX 360 this week, I am just going to get it there.

I'd just like to take a moment to thank everyone who went ahead and checked out the first episode of Talking Games. Your support means the world to us and none of this would be possible without you there to listen. We have a lot of great shows planned, an amazing panel, and hope to bring some really cool guests onto the show in the near future.
Game on!
