Hawkeye #17 was definitely a case of not "getting" a comic because I feel like I just wasted $2.99 on an issue of what is otherwise one of my favorite pulls each month. The quality of this series has definitely diminished with me lately though, mainly due to the weird shipping schedule and issues like this. It's obvious from the letters page in the back this was supposed to come out in February and maybe it would have been better served to just get left out entirely. I don't know what this issue really accomplishes at all. It's kind of a fun diversion from the main story but considering what happened at the end of the last issue, this is definitely not want I wanted.
I know this forum tries to stay positive so for the sake of that, I'd love to hear everyone else's thoughts, especially those that enjoyed it. For me though, it felt like such a waste of money.

You may want to try posting this on the Hawkeye thread in the Marvel forum area, you'll probably get some conversation going there. Your not alone in you feelings about this issue. With the number of delays and the back and forth between Kate and Clint this one storyline about the assassain and the Bros has dragged on a little too long, but I'm still overall enjoying the book.

I get the complaints about this issue, i also would've liked to see what happened after the last issue. But to be honest, i'll take this over a Kate issue.Don't think those issues are bad or anything, i love the character but i can't really get into her story as much as i can with Clint's story. I can just appreciate this issue for what it is, a funny filler issue that made me feel good after reading it.

I think, in part, because it was a distinctly different story than what had been the sole focus for several months. I am viewing this as two linked but separate comics that each come out bi-monthly. I imagine the narrative threads will join up again sooner or later but I am happy seeing where Fraction, Aja, et al take both Hawkeyes. As for issue 17, I thought it was quite a fun exploration of the character and the world and there is quite a bit going on to explore as to how it relates to the larger story arc.

I didn't even know such a thread existed, thanks for the heads up. I'm quite surprised that people don't dig the Kate issues. I actually find those to be some of the best, maybe because her story is so contained while I feel like Clint's is all over the place. I think collected as a whole, this segment of Hawkeye involving Clown is going to be a good read but with all the delays and sidetrack issues, I'm really not sure what's going on anymore in the book.

Getting a xmas issue in March was strange, and i didn't quite feel it. That being said, it wasn't bad by any means; it had its moments; i chuckled. But if you're going to do a holiday-themed issue, by god, make sure it comes out sometime near the holiday in question.

There was some talk about it over in the Hawkeye thread, but I'll post my opinion here: I didn't like this issue. But it's like this... So, fine, there was a bad issue. There have been 16 other good ones, including the excellent and wildly experimental Pizza Dog issue. I don't want to complain too loudly, because I'd hate to discourage experimentation. It's experimentation that makes Hawkeye so remarkable month after month.

Issue 18 was pretty damn good, so IMO it makes up for the sins of 17.
