I've been really excited about this book since it was announced. I just got more excited because I'm listening to an interview with Dan Slott and he said the reason he can "silver down" and become Norrin Radd in an instant so he can "not just explore the galaxy and explore the universe, but explore his humanity. This is a way for him to experience the world in a different way, and it's also a way for me to right a book that's not 20 pages a month of the guy on top of a bowling trophy". He also talked about his very first superhero comic was the galactus trilogy so the surfer was always a big deal to him.

I've been excited about this since it was announced as well. I liked the story in the Marvel Point Now a couple months back. Is this the first time the Surfer will ever have the ability to "silver down"?

I love Slott but what really has me into this book is the Allred art. Ill buy anything he does.

Have they shown an image of what Silver Surfer will look like when he turns the silver skin off?

Silver Surfer #1 was fantastic. I loved every panel of it. What Mike and Laura Allred do with this comic is a spectacle to behold. I was a big fan of Allred's previous run in FF and Slott's Superior story so this comic is hands down everything I could ask for. It's easily in the running for my favorite/best new comic this year. Everyone should go out and get this comic!

Personally I was a bit disappointed when I heard Slott was writing the book, not because he's a bad writer, but I would rather have had a more serious philosophical tone to the book ala Jonathan Hickman. That said, it was a solid first issue and the art was, pardon the pun, out of this world. I'm kinda hoping this will turn into the Hitchhikers of the Marvel universe.

I really like the approach that they are taking with Silver Surfer, it feels very Doctor Whoish. Just like the Doctor, Silver Surfer is simply exploring the universe while at the same time trying to atone for his services rendered to Galactus. I think it's really interesting to see that he feel ashamed of his past and how everyone fears him.

In the interview I mentioned above he talked about how it's very heavily influenced by Dr Who, soon he will be taking the girl around and showing her the universe on his board

I loved it! I went in knowing absolutely nothing about the Silver Surfer. I agree with others who say there is a Doctor Who vibe to the comic, and as a big Doctor Who fan that was something I really responded to. I am very interested to see where this book goes.

There was also a free infinite comic that was released on Comixology and the Marvel App.

I like my Silver Surfer to be a bit more serious and philosophical, but I'm also a huge Slott fan. I thought the first issue was a bit of a letdown, but the second issue was a big improvement. Although I like my Surfer to be a different tone, I'm now on board (hehe) for Slott's take.

I liked the 2nd issue, art is still amazing(of course it is, its Mike Allred!)and Slott writes a pretty good Surfer. I'm only a bit bothered by the Dawn character, i like that's she is supposed to be the most important person in the Surfers life even though he doesn't know who she is, but i thought she took the situation that she is in way too lightly in this issue. She handled it like it was some every day thing when she should be freaking out in that situation, or at least i would. But other than that i thought it was a pretty enjoyable read.

I thought #2 was a big improvement on the first issue, I agree that Dawn handled the situation quite lightly for someone who had never previously left her home town. Still, only a minor gripe and looking forward to the next issue.

I'm absolutely loving this series. I agree that if I was Dawn, I would probably be freaking out a lot more, but I like her competence, and I guess since I'm already suspending my disbelief a lot for this giant silver guy riding a surfboard through space that aspect didn't bother me, ha ha.
