Picked this up. I thought the story was very interesting. Basically a group of friends discover a bunker with their names on it so they go inside and find a bunch of letters to themselves from their future selves and things look bleak. I don't really want to spoil anything, I think it's definitely worth a read. I think the art was nice but I don't know how I feel about the coloring.

Agreed that it's worth a read and you get a lot of comic for $3.99. Before this was picked up by Oni, I bought the digital mini-issue installments (and they did a nice perk where if you got the digital mini-issues, you could download the remastered first issue for free). It's the same material in the first issue, but it was in all B&W except for the cover pages. Honestly, I liked the B&W a little more than the new coloring. It's not bad per se, it just changes the feel of the comic, makes it feel more produced, and takes away from the "negative space" of B&W. Although I really enjoyed the issue on the whole and love the premise, the set-up feels a little rushed and incomplete. I'm sure we'll get more backstory in subsequent issues and I understand that cliffhangers make us want to pick up the next issue, but for me the problem was less about cliffhangers and more about having no idea why this group of people are friends, and anything about their backstory to make it seem plausible that any of them could become (SPOILERS SPOILERS) president or a top-notch scientist. Even so, again, this is a great premise and I'll pick up at least another issue to see how things progress.

I think unlocking their past by taking a glimpse into their future is a cool premise, not your typical story telling approach but I think they are doing a fairly good job with their attempt. If they start doing flash forwards and flash backs it might get pretty hard to follow.

I've been downloading the original digital releases as Fialkov was releasing those online. This series deserves to have a print version, due to the quality of the work.

I read the hype last week on Comic Book Resources and a buddy of mine picked it up this weekend as well. He read it before me and said that he loved it (which is saying a lot because his tastes are particular). I hate when issues are over hyped because it ruins the excitement for me but I can say that overall, this issue blew me away. I cant help but wish for a time where every comic is "oversized" lol. The book was so thick with so much story that I was cheering when I turned the page and there was more! A very unique stylized art style adds to the experience. There was one panel that made me literally say out loud "wow!" There was a panel that showed a post apocalyptic city through the windows of a burned building. There was a burning body on the ground and the combination of the pencils and colors in that panel were just amazing. Being that there were so many pages with such a dense story I felt like I just read half a novel.
Let me just say this as well, as I am sure others feel the same. I sub to about 20 comics or so a month. About half of them I finish feeling entertained. A handful of them I really enjoy but there are those few comics that really wow me. This one is right at the top. I will be so excited for Issue #2. This book is a must read!

They sold out of their first printing in 24 hours. There is a ComicVine podcast out now dedicated to the issue with Joshua Hale Fialkov and Joe Infurnari. They said that the 2nd printing will come out a week or 2 before issue #2 comes out on 3/26.
