Hey guys, I was curious if anyone had some recommendations for places online that are reputable for selling key back issues? I'm going for a copy of Amazing Spider-man 121 for with my key issue collection, but can't find a copy locally. Heyo, Pretty much the only time I buy something online is through ebay, and that's usually because I've gotten what I feel is a decent deal. Usually I'm trying to get 5-10 books from the same person to minimize shipping costs. It isn't worth it to buy a book for $4 and then pay $4.99 in shipping. However, when I'm comparing prices one of the places I usually check is mycomicshop.com. They've got a very large selection and also happen to run regular auctions of some pretty nice comics as well as original comic art. Anytime you order online you are taking a chance IMO because you just don't know that quality of the book until it's actually in your hands. I haven't ever really been burned, some books where I feel they were overstated a bit, but then again I underpaid so it works out ya know? If you travel at all and happen to be in an area with a decent comic shop with a good back issue supply it might be worth your while to go in and make some contacts with them. See if you can swap emails and it they are willing to take pictures and ship a book you are looking for if they happen to have something you want. After reading some of the stories in this board I really count my blessings that I have 7 comic shops within a 25 minute drive of my house. Varying degrees of stock, cleanliness, and friendliness of course, but still enough that I don't have too much trouble finding what I'm looking for. I'm definitely interested to see what suggestions other people have though. Good topic! - Beau

Ebay, Half-Price Books (a real risk though with that one) or conventions. Conventions are usually a good source.

Yep I'd say mycomicshop.com as well. They're responsible for half of my boxes of comics. Especially in regards to runs that have yet to be collected. Batman Legacy is a crossover I was waiting for a reprint of as you can only find it listed on Amazon for like a million million dollars. And I picked every single tie in issue from their site for like $30 + shipping. Well worth a look. Also they generally have multiple copies of different condition. I don't know about you but I only really buy the back issues for reading as its stuff that hasn't been collected, I'm not fussed about creases and things, but if you're more looking for the collectors side of things they do offer a range of graded issues and NM copies of their comics.

Heyo, While I look at mycomicshop.com all the time to see what comics are priced and what auctions they've got going on I've never bought anything from them. What do their shipping costs run and more importantly what condition are their books in. Most of the time it seems like their don't put photos up of their comics that are newer. Their auctions are fun to watch, but I am a bit disappointed that they don't always describe the condition a bit better of the books their are selling. In the future I'm thinking there some stuff I'd like to buy from the so I'm curious how your transactions went. - Beau
