Am I the only one who is blown away by this title? Between this title and Velvet, I can't get enough of girl secret agents! BTW, Black Widow is my first Marvel title to be on my pull list.
The art of Black Widow is beautiful. I can see the story being able to be speed up and slow down when it needs to. It isn't in a rush to solve all the problems. I love that it feels completely separate from the any Avengers story, but you also have a sense that if an Avenger showed up, it would not seem forced.
Would have never picked this up if not for Talking Comics. Thanks!

Christian,
"It's great when a recommendation comes together!"
This new Black Widow series is so well done! It fits right into regular Marvel Continuity, yet exists "outside" as well! Nathan Edmondson's story is working up a nice, slow, rolling boil, and Phil Noto's art--WOW! (You should check out the Ghost mini-series he did with Kelly Sue DeConnick as well!)

I really think this is going to eventually be talked about being right there along with Daredevil or Hawkeye

It's early but this has all the makings of a "best new book of 2014" written all over it.

I totally did the same thing. It was mentioned in the podcast so I picked up issue 1.
The art is amazing as well as the pacing.
Additionally I love how it is written as a single story per issue with an over arching story line.
The majority of the comics I have been getting are in either paperback or hardcover format because with a 6 issue story arc it reads better that way.
This book though, just like Hawkeye, reads better as individual issues.
It actually feels really cool to be collecting both Black Widow and Hawkeye
I am debating if I should pick up secret avengers to finish the trinity.

Secret Avengers is a good espionage/spy book that's set to be relaunched with Ales Kot as the sole writer. If you like Zero, I think you'll like it. I plan on continuing with that. He's also spinning off an Iron Patriot book.

Does his writing style read better in single issues or trades

I know it drains the kid's college funds, but I am loving BW coming out every two weeks so far! I am very surprised how much I have enjoyed it.

Does his writing style read better in single issues or trades I think it really depends on what he's writing. Zero works well issue to issue because the art style changes up and works with each story. Change was much more of a trade because of the singular concept behind it. And his Suicide Squad run was too short for me to make a determination. I'm going to go month-to-month with Secret Avengers. If it doesn't work after the first arc, one can always switch to trade.

I've read the first 2 also thanks to Bob.
Its a great book! BE is truly awesome. I would have never have read any girl books but Bob has me reading Batgirl and Black Widow. Im so grateful. As a father of a young girl i'm happy to see that girls don't have to be damsels in distress waiting for some hero to rescue them.
Love those redheads!
What can I say I'm so excited to get to know BW i cant wait to find out who she really is. I hope they take their time and really give her depth. So far, so good!

As a podcast "whole", we're inclusionary by our tastes and nature, but for me personally, it's kind of a Quixotic mission to tilt at the windmills and inform and/or remind people how great so many super-heroines are, and raise a ruckus over their ill treatment when it occurs! I'm glad my recommendations hit the mark for you, and assuming your daughter is a "wee one", let's hope that by the time she reaches comics reading age, that the industry will still be striving to be a more representative place! Another Black Widow issue this week!!

I wasn't going to pick this up, never really had an interest in the character, but I am reading velvet and I like that a lot. I'll give this a try.

I think that this title is really delivering far better than I anticipated. I have never really had much of an interest in the black widow personally, but figured I would give it a try since it was launching a new title. I love it, the art and story are very captivating, they work so well with each other.

I love it. Definitely one of the first series I read every week that it comes out (thank GOD it's bi-weekly).
The artwork is what really stands out to me. It also has a really similar vibe to Hawkeye. I dig the way Marvel has been exploring more aspects of their characters personalities other than just the simple fact that they are a super hero. Definitely makes them feel much more relatable.
