This is not condemnation but more of a history student looking at Marvel and the tendency for comics to cycle through stories and ideas.
The most obvious instance is using the Marvel Now branding again. Uncanny this and All New All Different that don't matter to me as much as the stories. For instance I love Power Man and Iron Fist and will continue buying that title regardless of branding. I love the thunderbolts and will do the same.
However, out of the branding announcement and all Marvel SDCC news there is one thing that shined for me and really shows this idea of history repeating; the return of Richard Rider as Nova. I loved the DnA run (and that former writing duo) and own the original 70's series single issues, but when a lower tier character dies, there's no guarantee he comes back.
History repeating. Ham Jordan went over a decade of being villainous (hello 90's), dead, then back as the Spectre. Ham was the first comic I ever read and I waited patiently for his return. For those of you wondering I never joined H.E.A.T. (major points to anyone who remembers that).
But then came Rebirth which made Green Lantern one of the top selling DC franchises. The lesson that Marvel had ignored was that it would have been easier to keep the original Nova in stories while working on developing the new Sam Alexander character. We get that now and hopefully a little bit of a Nova Rebirth to bridge the gap between old and new fans. I doubt it will be as big as GL who has always been more of a marquee character, but still I look forward to learning more about this relaunch.
What about everyone else? Excited for Marvel Now? Tired of the constant re-branding and number ones?

They're in a seasons mode. This is what they're doing. They are simply modernizing to be like other entertainment available to people.

That's true. I think at this point they could easily do the seasons method without all the world changing events beforehand. I think om mostly fed up with the everything is planned out years in advance song and dance.
At the end of the day, I've been enjoying the titles that have managed to avoid the big interruptions. Like I said I'm excited for Nova, Power Man and Iron Fist is amazing and a couple other titles may get a shot.

Bobby, A couple of years ago, we did a "Predictions" show, and I thought that Marvel would have gone to a yearly "Volume" system by now, but "Seasonal" may let me claim a victory and depart the pitch, don't you think? As you've heard (and ad nauseum, too!), I'm more jazzed at the fringe-y titles, and actually become annoyed when the "event" horns in on my enjoyment, no matter how well the book's creative team integrates it into their milieu.

I know what you mean Bob. I haven't followed the events for years now and it's been great.
As for fringe characters, they always get the stories I like most. Madrox, Nova, Luke Cage and Iron Fist. It doesn't get much better.
Same for most comic lines.

Bobby,
I feel as if have to be conversant in them, so I'll sneak a peek whilst I'm in the store or sitting around the table as we record, but it is very liberating to not feel beholden to the marketing and promotion departments of The Big Two, or in the case of Marvel particularly, their "writers' retreats" that cook up these events each year.

Yeah all the writers retreats we hear about where this year's stories was always cooked up "several years ago." They do love their promotions.

I was initially opposed to the idea, but as I like to read full runs by a writer/artist, I'd say it is only a detrement to the book when the creative team had to wrap something up early or cut something short. I think it gives the publisher an opportunity to try something new and different. (Think Red Wolf or Resurrection Man) unfortunately publishers don't always take advantage of it. (Looking at you DC's Rebirth)

Palaba,
Those moments when a creative team's run has to end or their story arc becomes truncated or otherwise altered due to "outside forces" can be wrenching. That feeling is made worse when you hear that it's due to some "event" that will ret-con or re-boot something that you were just enjoying!

Bob,
I agree that can be the worst, I'd like to cite the last few pages of Brian Q Miller's Batgirl as my favorite look at what could have been. But to be fair I understand the need for jumping on points, especially when trying to be accessible to new readers and more importantly new demographics. As an aging comics fart (approaching 40) I'd argue that when the comics industry actually started to attempt to reach new demographics, the story quality had risen almost industry wide! I feel like a lot of the comics getting get talked about every week on the podcast (Moongirl, Hellcat, Wolverine, etc.) Would not have happened with out some giant company restart/gimmick.

Palaba, As you already know, it's those "fringe-y" books that make up the bulk of my super-heroic reading at this juncture, so on that point about the new readership demographic I whole-heartedly agree! It's a complex issue, but for me, the thing of it is that The Big Two have created far more "jumping-off" than "jumping-on" points for fans and so many thousands have taken advantage, and when you factor in the changes in product distribution, they haven't been replaced by enough younger readers, and there are many great books that will never reach the wide audience they deserve.

I was all in for the previous Marvel Now...... And it led me to so many amazing books that i previously was ignorant of. That "era" of Marvel has become a bit of a facination for me. I enjoy collecting those issues still and i often get lost in my marvel now long box..... good times....
If they can capture that feeling for me this time around i will be excited...... we will see!
So far i enjoy all the books that i have been enjoying for a long time..... Cap, Uncanny xmen, black widow, thunderbolts........... I am also an unapologetic Inhumans fan.... I try to not get drawn into the negativity.... i am really enjoying the inhuman stories that have come out these past few years.

Jonathan, As you say, the original "Now!" books and their follow-ups were instrumental in bringing all sorts of interesting books and creators to the fore, some of which are amongst my favorites as well, so here's hoping for something similar with this effort!
