Hey everyone, now that we have two shows about female superheros i would like to hear everyone's opinion on what one is better. Granted we have much more JJ than supergirl but i think already i can say with certainty i prefer JJ. The characters are much better and the villain was awesome. Also call me a pig if you must but i just feel like the whole anti-sexism thing is shoved down your throat in supergirl. It's still a good show but needs to improve. What do you guys think.

Jessica Jones is a hugely feminist show and the prevailing theme is one of anti-sexism and an insight into male privilege and how disgusting it is. It's equally as is your face as Supergirl, in my opinion, but addresses an even more serious side to it.

Probably, i dont know what it was about Supergirl but i just felt like the first few episodes have been rants on the evils of men. I didnt get that feeling from JJ. I think it was just better done.
SPOILERS FOR THE FIRST EPISODE.
My ppoint is best illustrated in the end of the first episode where they mention the alien expecting Kara to be weak because she was a girl so she melted the hammer thingy. But it wasn't because she was a girl it was because she had the ability to shoot lasers from her eyes.
Maybe its just me though.

Troops,
As you'll hear me mention on-air, even though this thread has just begun, I'm proud to say that it is far ahead of the "pick one or another" tone that's infecting this topic across the inter-webs, and I've every confidence it will continue in that spirit!
From our "Jessica Jones" podcast chat, it certainly sounds that Marvel has gone someplace very new with one of their properties, a leap that if done as well as all are saying it was, certainly plants a flag in some new territory. That said, considering the darker atmosphere of most modern DC/WB adaptations, "Supergirl"'s lighter tone and positive energy is a similar step into a different story-telling mode, as well!
There's plenty of room for both, I say!

100% agree with you Mr Reyer. Do we really need to turn this into what our(US) government has turned into? People picking sides and crapping on one another.

Augustine, That's what has been so great about the discussions that take place hereabouts; no matter how prickly the topic, it's almost never degenerated into what passes for civil discourse in other forums! Happy Thanksgiving!
