I only really get to listen to podcasts on my commute, and it's not that long (35/40 mins each way). I found Talking Comics a while back but didn't listen regularly because of the length of the show (sort of irrational but we're all irrational creatures). A couple of months ago I looped back and resubscribed, tired of not finding enough good comics podcasts, I'm really enjoying the show and just listen in pieces (though I'll admit more than once I moved to a new ep before I finished the previous one).
Anyway - the point of this thread is to thank the gang for keeping me company on a MISERABLY long snow commute home today - it was just perfect - thanks!

That exact thing happened to me today as well. My normal commute takes about 45 minutes each way, but took almost two hours getting home today due to traffic, snow, and ice. Listening to the gang talk on the podcast both entertained me and kept me from getting too stressed about the driving situation. Gracias amigos!

Yes, we can indeed be long winded from time to time, but it's all coming from a place of passion for the comic medium. Thanks so much for listening and stay safe out there in this hellish weather we're having.

For what it's worth I don't mean "long winded" - I think the show is as long as it is because of the ground you cover, not because it's self indulgent (the cause of many long podcasts).

I'm a roofer who works predominantly on my own so I wish the show was longer!!! Wednesday/Thursdays, depending on 3G coverage, are the days I look forward to as you guys keep me company as I fight the good fight against invading h2o!!!!!

The TC podcast usually gets rationed throughout two days worth of walks to work. At this time of year, when it's cold and (more often than not, given this is Wales) wet, the podcast keeps me smiling during those walks.

It's funny how length of a show matters depending on who you are and what you do. Years ago I was in a position where I could listen to podcasts all day and nothing was ever long enough. Now I like long shows in the summer so I can listen while I do yardwork, etc. I'm looking forward to listening to the ep that came out today while I shovel!

It gets me through work, along with other great comics podcasts. The length is a good thing in my case.

Not to get too personal or neurotic, but I basically don't have any friends. I've been diagnosed as "almost having Aspergers". Which pretty much means I'm not very good with talking to people. That's not to say I don't want friends, I just don't have the tools or whatever to make them.
Anyway, I look forward to each podcast cause I know I'm going to hear people talk about things that I would talk to my friends about. Not only that, but somehow, even though I'm just a listener, it has made me feel like I'm a part of it. Like I'm a member of this group or club that I never knew excisted. Like I have fiends, even if I don't talk to them or have never met.
I feel that this sounds sad or something, but I mean it as a compliment. Yeah, I don't know how to close this speech so I'll just leave it at that.

We've been blessed to have a community of friends grow around our show, as well as the website and all our wonderful contributors. I'm sure that you'll have a great time here on the forums, and you'll do fine. As an aside, let me say that I understand some of what you're feeling; I've been reading comics for over a half-century, and excepting the occasional brief discussion at my LCS, it's only been through our show that I've felt at home talking about comics, thanks to my amazing co-hosts and all of you fantastic folks out in "radio land"! To quote Captain Marvel: "We have a good gang."

I love having Talking Comics each week since it helps me get through my slog of a 10-hour workday. I'm fortunate enough to be able to listen to headphones at my desk so the longer the show, the better in my opinion. Whenever Bobby starts off with, "it's going to be a shorter show today..." I silently curse the heavens. But then the show still winds up being two hours and everything's okay.
I'm also never among people that share my interest in comics, so hearing other people talk about them makes me feel more passionate about a hobby that's hard to maintain, especially when everyone I know sees it as kids stuff. Having the show each week is definitely keeping that fire burning and has helped to inspire me to start writing reviews online. I'm really thankful that the show exists otherwise I'd probably just be reading a few comics secretly to myself, or not at all.

My son (11) is diagnosed with Aspergers and I see the struggles he goes through in making and retaining real lasting friendships. He finds so much joy in comics, and even if he could find kids in his school who are into comics (sadly I think few are), I don't think (as you describe) he quite has the tools to make anything out of it. I guess I don't know how to close this speech either, other than to say hi.

We're all just regular people, talking about what we love. We're just like you, we just happen to have a microphone and a kick ass producer behind the curtain. Thanks so much for your kind words and for reaching out. Let this forum, this community be a way of making some honest to goodness friends for yourself. We're not going anywhere and you are more than welcome to share your thoughts about how much you love comics here. Cheers!

Yeah, I don't know how to close this speech so I'll just leave it at that. I've been diagnosed with social anxiety disorder. I think comics are a great way to serve as an entryway into conversations with new people. They've really helped me. This was one of the major impetuses for me to go back and hang out in the shop again, instead of picking up and dashing off to read right away. Also, the internet is a great place for people to form their thoughts and find similar-thinking friendly people.
