I have been out of the comic game for the past year-two, aside from reading almost every Image book.
I was just looking on amazon at all of the Marvel releases that seem to be flooding out. What are some recommendations on some books to get into? I buy only in trade/hardcover collections so finding mostly anything will be easy.
I see so many character one off books like silver surfer, magneto, thanos, etc.
are any of these good/anyone have any recommendations?
I'm mostlyinterested in Guardians of the Galaxy, Wolverine, Daredevil, Deadpool, etc. but also would try new stories too. (prefer something that's easy to jump in to)
thanks!

Eric, I would heartily recommend the Dan Slott/Michael & Laura Allred Silver Surfer, and follow that up with Ms. Marvel by G.Willow Wilson and Adrian Alphona. Both books do end up addressing the "event" that's coursing through the MU at this point, but it's only within their last few issues that are hitting the stands now.

I know this is outside your 2 yr window but for Deadpool/Wolverine you can't beat Uncanny X-Force. For a more recent story I would suggest Deadpool: The good, the Bad, and the Ugly, which includes Deadpool 15-19. It includes a deadpool, wolverine, and captain america team up. Also any of the deadpool mini's by Cullen Bunn are good, I really enjoyed the Guantlet and Deadpool Killistrated... For wolverine solo stuff all of volume 4 by Jason Aaron and Cullen Bunn was great and I enjoyed the Death of Wolverine mini-series by Charles Soule. The volume leading up to it felt forced and un-necessary to me. From a Guardian's standpoint... In my opinion, The Rocket Raccoon series by Skotty Young is the best thing to come out recently. Magneto is really good... warning it has a lull around issue 11 or 12 (event tie-in) but picks back up quickly. I've heard great things about Mark Waid's recent Daredevil run... but sadly, I am just now getting to it. recommendations for other titles... 1. Inhuman...Soule, Stegman 2. Hawkeye... (now that it's done) Fraction, Aja/Wu 3. Spider-Woman... Hopeless, Rodriguez (careful issues 1-3 are tie-ins to Spider-verse event) 4-current are awesome!!! 4. Thor (All of Jason Arron's run, not just the new one) May be the best title Marvel has been publishing 5. The first volume of Uncanny Avengers by Rick Remender, haven't read volume 2 but I liked volume 1. 6. The last volume of Fantastic Four...(Haven't finished...on #14, but what I've read has been great 7. 1st volume of Kelly Sue DeConnick's Captain Marvel...(Haven't read volume 2 but V1 was awesome)
Hope this helps...

Bob, Knowing you're a Captain America fan I would recommend Deadpool: The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly to you as Well... It's a really a nice arc and shows a nice connection between the 3 main heroes in the story...

on the Guardians of the Galaxy Side: My favourite Marvel Books right now are "Groot" and "Guardians 3000"/"Korvac Saga". but as they are not available in trade yet, you should read Rocket Raccoon by Skottie Young. the Bendis GotG books sadly come nowhere near the Abnett and Lanning Stuff, so if you havent already you should check out "Annihilation" "Annihilation:Conquest" and the "Guardians of the Galaxy by Abnett and Lanning: The Complete Collection" Vol 1 and 2.

I'd say the best books would be Jason Aaron's Thor, Mark Waids DareDevil, G Willow Wilsons Ms Marvel & Charles Soules Inhumans.
Lot of other great Marvel titles but these are pretty self contained and easy to follow.

You listed Wolverine.
I thoroughly enjoyed the final Paul Cornell Wolverine run. The one that rolls right into Soule's Death of mini. I would definitley check all of that out! As a huge Wolverine fan, its extremley pleasing.

Just because it is my favorite Marvel book right now I have to recommend The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl. Most of Ryan North's jokes seem to hit the spot.

Oh, will no one mention poor Spider Gwen? I'll admit, I am very much a partial to this series, but for those looking for an easy place to start with something new, this would definitely be my reccomendation.
