The graphic novel, Roller Girl. Hands down one of the best graphic novels I've read.

Long time since I have posted here, but I have a recommendation that maybe many have already read. I was just surprised it took my so long to see the work of Kate Beaton. I was killing time at The Booksmith (SF Haight Ashbury district) and saw Hark! A Vagrant!/and Step Aside Pops, the small bound collections of her web comics.
First page I turned to looks at the historical significance of ponies and how this differs from culture to culture......the last panel has an alpha male on a huge stallion berating a little prince and his mutant pig/pony. "You can't get a girl riding on no pony, son!" Read like a frat boy who listens to rap. I was giggling too much and wasn't gonna buy ei thy er volume yet. I had to leave the store before I really busted a gut, trying to finish a few of Beaton's strips, all of which lambaste patriarchal ideas of woman's place in society. Good stuff

So, these recommendations are for Ms Cooke, who believes Grant Morrison is overrated.
His DC work is amazing, and I haven't even gotten to his Wonder Woman story.
I suggest you try Seven Soldiers ( I think it's 2 or three tpb volumes)
WE3 - a heartbreaking story about family pets used as military assets
and his masterwork, All Star Superman (all the movies needed to do was follow one or two issues from there and we would have a great Superman movie)
