I just recently heard an interview with Fiona Staples saying the first comics she bought and loved were from Top Cown, stuff like Aphrodite IX and Fathom. I hadn't heard of any of these things so naturally I looked them up. And of course I found they were from that period in comics. But it was kind of cool and a different side of the opinion to hear one of the most popular women in comics to be a fan of what some would consider overly sexualised comics just because she liked the stories and thought the girls were pretty. Honest, simple reasons.
I'm curious if Aphrodite IX and Fathom are good reads? I love Michael Turners art as well as David Finch's, just curious if the stories are any good.

i havent read those but i can recommend "Generation IX" its Aphrodite IX meets Witchblade, The darkness and the other artifacts. its only been two issues until now but i really enjoy it.
as for top cow in general i started reading witchblade and the darkness a while back, and while the original runs can be very sexist i really like the lore of the artifacts and it definitely gets less sexist as the cover numbers rise and ill definitely keep reading.

I've just started reading Stjepan Sejic's Ravine, 'cause the first two volumes were on sale and I love his art style, and i'd heard good things. Noticed a tiny little Top Cow on the spine and the back cover. Might be the first time i've ever bought a Top Cow trade, now that i'm thinking about it

The top cow universe books have always been problematic for me in the same way DC is... all the books seem to be tied into one another and it would be a huge undertaking to breech that world.
I have read some the other stuff they have out and I've enjoyed all of Sejic's stuff, Rise of the Magi, and postal. I have the 1st issue of Tales of Honor on Comixology and I waiting for the Tithe mini to wrap up. I will check out Blood Stain and Switch when they come out. I haven't heard of Romulus, but I will probably research it now...

well the Top Cow Universe is pretty much non existent anymore especially with Withcblade being canceled. its a bit sad because once you got in its really cool, but a needed step for Top Cow to escape its old image, and man those old Top Cow books are really REALLY cheesecakey

So a mix of the two, i would be in to.

i too like that universe very much, but the early stuff is undeniably the reason why some people still shy away from TopCow books, so i think giving the TCU a year or two off to get rid of that old stigma is definitely a good move.

True, but alot of that stuff is part of the reason i liked it, and still do. Everything male AND female related was extremley exageratted and out of this world. And it was and is awesome to me. I can't speak for people who don't like it for that reason. Because im exactly on the opposite side of the coin. As far as this stuff is concerned. Stuff like Cyberforce WAS what made my childhood so epic
As far as new stuff. I just want something new from them to be excited for each month.
