At the behest of Joe Hill on twitter and the recommendation of the Talking Comics crew I've been searching for the first trade of Rachel Rising but it's proving quite difficult to find in physical stores.
Just wondering what the general impression of the book was? I've heard nothing but good things but I assume the sales aren't good if creators are coming to it's aid.

After listening to the podcast I actually ordered the first trade yesterday. I found it on Amazon and a few other online stores.

Yeah, it's on the way but I always check the local stores first. Just wondering what everyone thought of the book itself?

As a general whole? It's a masterpiece that everyone who enjoys the medium of comics should read. It's a moving, well written, impeccably drawn book and if you get the chance to, pick it up ASAP. People study this book for a reason.

It seems to whip the crowd up so I'm really looking forward to getting hold of it. It's rare that so many people have such good things to say about a book across the board.
I hope the title isn't in too much trouble.

The title isn't in trouble at all, as far as I know. I've found it in every store I've been in, but sometimes it can be hidden away in indie corners and such. It's also in the process of being turned into a TV series. Plus it's self-published by Terry Moore, so it's probaaaaably not going to get cancelled

Rachel Rising is top of stack for every new issue. It's an excellent example of a horror comic and what can be done in the medium in general. Terry Moore has been a favorite creator of mine for many, many years.

I just noticed a sudden flurry of activity surrounding it and thought I'd ask around. The tone of the flurry was panicky thus the enquiries.

I know I talked about it for Best of 2012 last year (and also this year) and I remember Joey Esposito talking about it on his Best of 2012, but I think it just hadn't picked up steam yet. The TV show announcement drew interest to the series though (I believe) so that might have something to do with why everyone is talking about it now, even though it's been a little while since that news got passed around.

I've just finished reading the first trade. Wow. It more than lives up everything I've heard about the book. I've immediately ordered the next two trades. I was so disappointed when I got to the end and didn't have more to read. There's a lot of stuff I read and enjoy, but this is one of the books that I found myself getting totally sucked in and immersed in the story.

Glad to hear you feel that way. It only gets better with every volume. Hope you enjoy it

Just brilliant. Immersed to the point that when my partner spoke to me whilst reading, it felt like I was being dragged out of Manson.
Wonderfully paced too, and the art couples so well with the writing. There isn't a hair out of place in those panels.
Very grateful for the recommendation, everyone.
