Hard to believe no one has started this thread...Oh well, I'll do it.
Writer: Rick Remender Art by: Greg Tocchini
Just finished #6 this week and WOW!!! I could leave it there...but, you know me I have to say more. It's hard for me to believe I almost bailed on this after 2 issues. In my opinion this may be Remender's Best work...ever! The first 2 books are like the slow climb up a roller coaster and 3-6 are the emotional twist, turns and loops that make this comic a great ride.
Tochinni's art is awesome!!! I'm a huge fan of "Last Days of American Crime" and I think his art here is better... He's holding nothing back as he creates an insane underwater world.
Quick overview: The world is now to close to the sun, making it impossible to live on the surface and all people live in isolated cities under the sea. After an attack by pirates leaves her family fractured, the story chonicles Stel's attempt to save her family and the remaining people of earth. What I think makes this book great is Stel's unending perseverance even in the face of tragedy and failure. This is an emotional book and probably not for those who are looking for a light read.
I can't wait to see where Remender and Tocchini take us in the next arc.

Completely agree, I don't say this lightly, but I prefer this to Black Science. The artwork is fantastic, and really gives it that muddy underwater atmosphere of despair and lost hope. So excited to see where this book heads.

Yes, I'm in the same boat as both of you - the first issue didn't grab me on the first read (although I enjoyed it a lot more on a later re-read) but it's been getting better and better ever since. Loving the constant changes of direction, and the emotion in this issue was really intense. For me this is the best of Remender's Image books, although I'm certainly still loving Black Science as well.

It's really turned into a brilliant book, hasn't it. Dazzling art, heartwrenching twists and turns and skips and jumps. Madness, through and through, with another bellyblow in the wrap of the arc. Loooooooove this book, can't wait to see where it goes. I don't know if I can put it past Black Science, but honestly they're both 10/10's for me; who could put one A+ beyond another.

I bought the trade, just fell in love with the art in the shop and decided to give it a go - best decision EVER!!!
Tony summed up my feelings perfectly and I can genuinely say that when I finished the book I checked online and found out that the next part isn't out yet... I was gutted but this is on my 'must read' list now, exactly what I want from my comics - beautiful sexy art merged with dark unpredictable story telling.

I'm not spoiling anything, but for those who have read #7, did anyone else feel this was Remender flipping the bird to Mainstream comics or maybe internet critics?
The second arc has started off with the same intensity as the last one. I know I'm in the minority on this but this is my favorite Remender book going.

It's also my favorite Remender book. Tokyo Ghost seems promising as well.
