So Fraction got an TV option for Sex Criminal with Universal Television. Bravo.
If I'm not mistaken, Universal TV is NBC, right? I'm a little curious what kind of adaptation would actually air on NBC? The story is not primetime appropriate... I would think an HBO/SHO or even Netflix would be a more sensible route.
Thoughts?

That's very, very strange. I more-than adore the book, it's a phenomenal comic and story, but my first reaction to this news is to be wary as hell. If it's not gonna be on an HBO/Showtime/Starz/Cinemax/Netflix type channel, then I dunnooooo . . I really don't want to see NBC ruin Sex Criminals and totally neuter it. I mean, John's glowing peen, dildo fights, Cumworld, lots and lots and lots of nudity . . these things, and how they serve as a counterpoint to the extremely touching and very human relationshippy aspect between John and Suze, are vital to the crazy mixture and makeup of what makes that story what it is.

I highly doubt that Sex Criminals ends up on NBC. There is a long history of studios producing shows that don't air on their own stations. Fox produced Buffy (WB) etc. Most recently Disney/Marvel which owns ABC struck their deal with Netflix to have shows appear there. So, I wouldn't worry just yet!

That's very reassuring. I would hate for an uncensorable story to end up getting cut off at the knees.

Hope that's how it goes; it's begging for an unrated, commercial-less, premium cable type situation.

Hannibal is currently on NBC. But that show is all about violence with a little bit sex. For some reason the USA is bothered more by sex than violence. With the subject matter of the comic I highly doubt it makes it on network television. If it does they will have to soften the material which I feel will ruin the story. I really hope NBC sells it to either HBO, Starz, Showtime, Amazon, or Netflix.
