so the low special effects budget hadn't really hampered this show until this weeks episode... this one really could have used better special effects. episode 5 didn't do much to change my thoughts on things:
Royale is still interesting there was very little Deena Not much from Calista, still don't like her Zora showed hints of becoming something cool, but I don't want to spoil anything so I can't really explain my thought process. Retro Girl had some nice scenes and I am liking her more Walker was a major player and you get some background, not sure what to think about what happened this week.

anyone watch all the way through? kind of a weird ending of the story arc, but the epilogue makes me optimistic about season 2 (if it happens). I won't get spoilery, but here's some "final" thoughts:
Royale stole the show and was the most interesting character in there for me.
Deena made a lot of progress over the season, but they need to give her a bigger role like in the comics. Maybe the events concluding season 1 will allow them to open her up more.
Zora developed well over the season and I am curious where she could go. By the end she was my #2 favorite even though she started out a little meh.
Calista evened out a little over the last few episodes and she was actually not that bad in the epilogue. I think she will be fun if the series continues though it might be hard to wash the awful taste of her season 1 character out of my mouth...
The only half-way spoilery thing I will say is by the end the audience knows too much about what is going on and it kind of ruins what could have been a great mystery for a second season.
All in all I enjoyed my time with this show and might watch it again in bigger chunks and see if it watches better that way (kind of like daredevil). I hope they get a second season and get a chance to improve on what seems like a decent foundation. is it a runaway hit like daredevil was? no, but it was fun and could be very interesting if they could get a little less ham-handed about the storytelling.

So is this thing going to come out for people who don't have playstations at any time?

you can watch it over the internet by going to the PS store website. whether they plan on sending it anywhere else now that the season is over, I haven't heard. Sounds like the global distribution is still pretty much a hot mess.

I finally finished the season.
I find Christian to be the most interesting character followed by Dana.
Johnny Royale piques my curiosity but that's about it.
Calista can take a flying leap. She's the typical streetwise teen, smart ass wannabe that seems to be so prevalent in today's entertainment. Annoying as hell.
Sad season ending but interesting to see how it effects the cast moving into the second season.

Calista is nothing like that in the comics (assuming you haven't read them yet) and is a way more interesting character there than she is in the show. I'm hoping they turn her around for season 2. Deena has a lot of potential heading into the next season. I think she blows it open and kicks some ass next time around. The ending was pretty tragic and made me hate the perpetrators even more. those characters were so crummy to begin with and that just sealed the deal and I can't wait for Deena to put a bullet in one (or both) of them.

it's a really good series and one of the things that got me seriously back into comics. The show hits some of the same notes as the comics but the tone of the comics is less about Christian missing his powers and more a crime procedural where one of the characters used to be a superhero and they investigate powers-related homicide. Or maybe a better way to describe it is that the comics are more about the cases these characters investigate as opposed to the show being about the characters and their issues.

Not sure if this has been posted yet, but I just stumbled across Powers Season 1 (all eps) on Crackle. For those not familiar with Crackle its a free Roku channel, just have to put up with commercials. I'm 5 eps in so far & its better then what I expected. Worth checking out in my opinion, especially for free!

yeah it's not bad at all. maybe a bit rough around the edges compared to daredevil and jessica jones, in my opinion, but it was still cool

For a 50-yr old guy who grew up w/ some pretty bad 60s & 70s TV sci-fi (see proof below). Powers is a work of art in the special effects department compared to what I was brought up on. You're right about DD being on a different level, but I'm digging Powers.

Finally got a chance to watch this show...wasn't impressed.
It's not horrible or anything, there are some good things here and there but there was so much that I didn't care for, like the story, which I couldn't get into, and most of the characters.Zora, Deena and Retro Girl were okay, but the others I either didn't get or was annoyed by, especially Walker.I couldn't stand him and his whiny personality, while he is one of my favourites in the comic.I don't mind that they tried some different things in this adaptation, especially since the comic isn't perfect either, but for the most part this didn't work for me.

doesnt help that there are so many great comic-based shows out there now either. IF it was the only game out there I could see folks being a bit more forgiving, but with daredevil, jessica jones, the upcoming luke cage, and the DC shows people are enjoying I just don't see how Powers can gain any traction with viewers unless this season blows peoples socks off. not to mention the whole PSN exclusive thing limits their audience quite a bit...

It's still not on PlayStation here in the Netherlands, I had to watch it on a Netflix-like subscription service.
But yeah I agree, if there wasn't so much out there right now that absolutely nails it, I think I would have enjoyed it more, if only for the fact that it's a Powers tv show, something I've wanted to see for a while. Now that there are so many adaptations out there that do a better job you can immediately spot the ones that aren't as great.
Thought I read somewhere that the new season starts next month or something.Don't think Im going to watch it, if I can even find it.

I think they said may 31? I'll check it out just because I want to know if it has improved and have PS Plus so it's easily available. IF I didn't have PSP I don't think I would be going out of my way to find it.
