anyone else looking forward to this? I know I am, and it's only a couple weeks away! whee! I was a little turned off when they announced a few of the actors (Deena and Walker are not exactly the people I would have cast, but what can you do?) but the closer it gets the more excited I am to see what they did with it  The trailers and promo images make it seem like the old retro girl will play a bit of a role in the show, which is weird since the comic opens with her dead... I also was confused because a clone of Famke Janssen was cast in that role....  |

Has anyone seen the first episode?I don't know if i can since i'm in the Netherlands and i heard something about it not being available yet in Europe.
But i definitely will watch it when i can, even though i have my doubts after seeing the trailer.

Super annoyed because I signed up for Playstation Plus solely for this show yesterday to see all 3 episodes, and after a good half hour of looking all over the PS store, then online, it took a comments section from some random forum to inform me this show isn't available outside the US yet. So I now have a non-refundable membership to something I can't even use. It would have been helpful that with all this promotion they did everywhere someone made a single statement that other regions would have to wait. Not even Bendis said anything. Sp I watched the first episode because it was free online but my opinion was slightly skewed by a super crappy experience.
But the show itself wasn't bad. My biggest critisism is Deena. She is such a huge personality in the comics, one of the few characters I have a comicbook crush on. So much attitude and humour. But from what we get in the pilot, she was just quiet with maybe the odd snarky remark. And when she tried to be funny it felt super forced and awkward. Noticeably bad acting. Sharlto is much more like Walker than I expected him to be. And I like that they're using Johnny Royale more than he was in the comics. The hints at the history with Wolf are awesome as well. I wonder if they'll actually ever go into the crazy history of that in the show.

Ok, now that I've watched the first couple episodes I think I am ready for first impressions. I'm digging Copley's Walker. It's not quite the same walker from the books, but I like where he's taking it. I didn't think I'd like Heyward as Deena, and she seems a little off-model in episode 1,but it seems to med she is growing into the character. I like Taylor's Royale and I'm glad he is playing a larger role than he did in the books. I'm on the fence with Zora and Retro Girl. Zora has become what appears to be kinda lame, where in the books she was a serious business veteran and I miss her tone from the books. Retro Girl is a little different since she wasn't really around much in the books, but I like the way they are portraying her. My one complaint is Calista. She's super cute, but I am really not a fan of how they are handling her. I feel like it'll eventually get better with her, and some of the seeds have been planted by the end of episode 2,but for now it just kills me inside to see that character set up the way they have. As a whole, I like it a lot and had to make a conscious effort to turn off the tv and get some sleep. It's still a little rough around the edges, but there sena to be a lot of potential here and I'm looking forward to watching more, probably tomorrow. |

Yeah, it was also a dissapointment for me to hear its US only on the PSN at the moment, especially if you consider that Netflix is doing a great job right now of releasing their Originals everywhere around the same time. |

it blows my mind that this isnt a global release. in germany they sold the rights to SKY why would they do that?
being a fan of TV-Shows outside of america sure is hard.

yeah thers an extra app for it, at least in germany and it doesnt have the usual video commands. theres just X for pause thats it..

yeah as the episodes went on I like Heyward's Deena more and more, and especially how she and Walker's relationship is developing. by the end of episode 3 I was pretty happy with her I am really liking what they are doing with Johnny Royale though. He feels like a very complicated guy. I still really don't like Calista's place in the story (and it is getting worse in my opinion). She is not who she was in the comics (personality or backstory) and it kind of ruins the character for me. |
