I'm really excited about this development. I think Bobby really hit the nail on the head in the podcast about this. Yeah, it's a minor irritation that the new properties get pushed back a tad, but it's totally worth it. This is SPIDEY, the flagship Marvel character. And people might be on board with all this "out with the old, in with the new stuff," but respect has to be paid for the character who solely led the way to make every bit of that new possible.

I mean in the comics, Tony. Not the movies. But if I DID mean the movies, I'm not sure I'd be crediting Blade. Keaton's Batman maybe. But more likely Christopher Reeve's Supes.

But more likely Christopher Reeve's Supes. Are we not talking about Marvel movies? I feel like we're talking about Marvel movies, otherwise why would Spider-man movie news be even remotely interesting.

Okay, to your first point... Cap is a different kind of hero than Spidey is. Spider-man is an everyman. Cap is the "ideal."
To the second, when it comes to movies, all comic movies are derivative of their predecessors to some degree therefore in terms of chronology, it's okay in my opinion to clump them all together.
Basically, my point is, the Blade movies sucked.

Dude, we're going 12 rounds here for no reason. Spider-man was introduced as a hero with the same problems as we have in the "here and now." Cap was not. Steve Rogers' BACKSTORY is that of an everyman, but that is not the character we read about or see on the big screen. But that's where it ended. Not many of us were frozen in ice and then thawed 70 years later. Peter Parker, while being a superhero, dealt with money problems, relatable relationship issues, and the like. And this was something, at the time of his creation, that was cutting edge and it introduced an entirely new perspective on what could be done with the superhero genre. Heroes that came before him have been reshaped to have similar depths in their personal lives since then, but it was spidey who introduced that idea to the mainstream comics audience.
