The thing I love about this trailer besides the fact it exists and looks amazing is the negative reactions: The majority are either still positive with some visual nitpicks (which is fine) or just downright douchebag-sexist-geek-rage. Because its really making those people look stupid.
The comparisons to the SNL Black Widow "trailer" are really stupid though. Context! Seriously, people will reach for the stars to damn something but barely lift a finger to praise it.
I saw a reaction on Twitter about someone's 7-8 year old daughter freaking out with excitement watching the trailer thinking it was a movie, then getting even more excited saying "You mean we get to watch this every week!?" THAT is the perfect reaction.

I'm trying to stay away from the negativity. When I saw it for the first time, I teared up a little bit. The nitpickers are never really happy.
The 80s carmine infantino supergirl book was the second comic I ever collected. I related so much to miss Danvers. It's close to my heart.

Looks great! Benoist and the creative team have created a really compelling version of the character there. Making a 6 minute trailer fly by is an achievement on its own.

I might actually check that out. From the trailer her character is everything I wanted Calista to be in Powers but didn't get (and maybe Calista will in season 2, but season 1 was what it was). I like that she's not sure about what she can actually do and it makes her more human to me. Oh, and when that dude told her to go get coffee if she wanted to help I wanted her to just lay that asshat out. That would have really sold this show to me.
there are just 2 things that might dissuade me from watching though: 1. I hope that dude doesn't become her geek squad. Arrow has one, The Flash has one, and for me it's become cliche for DC from my point of view. If he's just a friend who knows about fabric, that's cool. If he winds up designing gadgets for her, I'm out. 2. I hope it doesn't get too, and I really don't want to use this term, chick-flick-y (ugh). I know there are folks out there who dig that stuff, but it's just not my bag. There were a few scenes in the trailer that reminded me of that joke trailer for the imaginary Black Widow movie, which is not the kind of thing I personally want to watch. I hope that makes sense. Basically if it turns into Ally McBeal or Sex in the City with a superhero I'm out. That's just not my thing.

The guy you mentioned as her geeksquad, becomes a villain. I believe, I could be wrong. I wonder if anyone worried about the potential chick flick moments happening in the show, have ever really read supergirl? Even in her new 52 run, she has lots of funny and awkward chick moments with her supporting cast. So I don't understand anyone holding that against her here. She also has a history of choosing the bad boys when she has a great guy right in front of her. It is Kara, so if they touch on that stuff, people are disappointed? I don't get that. Anyway, I can't wait.

Anyway, I can't wait. That's cool if he does become a villain, but that seems like the exact same thing going on in the flash (though I could be wrong; I haven't watched it in a long time). Worried isn't the word I would use for myself regarding the chick flick moments (again, I really don't like using that term). It's just not my kind of thing if it's a big part of the show. The trailer makes it look like a lot of fun and I'm looking forward to it though. That said, I realize I am largely not the target audience for a lot of these comic-based shows so I shouldn't be surprised that I have some minor reservations about how much a show like this appeals to me. The only ones I've had enough interest to watch past the first episode or two are Daredevil and Powers, and neither of those have the same vibe as Arrow, Flash, Agents of Shield, Agent Carter...

I couldn't help it, I watched it. I loved the pilot. Most pilots suffer from the same thing soon don't hold it against them. But LOVED the pilot! So fun and so full of feeling
There is just something about that symbol flying around, and giving people hope... that is unmatched by anything else... to me.

Totally agree. I might have believed a rough cut pilot for the Flash to leak. But an entire HD non-watermarked Supergirl? Clearly the new way to garner hype.
But hey it worked.
And this one holds up better than the Flash. Also maybe its just me, but anyone doubting the "special effects" is just someone who won't be pleased by anything it seems. I can't believe this show looks as good as it does. The flying scenes especially, I didn't see any difference between Supergirl and Man of Steel.
And as much as I love love LOVE Arrow and Flash, this show doesn't suffer from CW-itis one bit.
Holy crap, there's a Supergirl show! How did this even happen?
I'm so glad to hear people talking about that symbol with such regard again. Gone are the days of "Supermans too powerful. He's boring." Shut yo mouth!

After watching the trailer I had zero interest in Supergirl. Gave the pilot a go and was pleasantly surprised. Really fun, counting down the 6 months until it actually starts now.

When this got announced i honestly thought it was gonna suck, but i really liked the pilot. It does everything a pilot should do, in my opinion. And i could definitely see this is coming from the Arrow/Flash team, it really has that same kind of feel.

honestly i didnt get the Flash and definitely not the arrow feel at all, i mean it got all the flash humor but not the shortcomings in character work, i love flash but the characters always feel acted and just like arrow there are always 2 layers, mission mode and romance mode i always feel that there isnt more to the characters and thankfully i dont get this from supergirl at all.

Well i didn't mean it feels like Arrow in terms of tone, Arrow is much, much darker.I just meant that i can feel this is coming from the same guys, Berlanti and Kreisberg.I cant quite put it into words, but there is something in all their shows that feels familiar.Which makes sense, i guess

Do you know what kind of a feel I got?? I got a SUPERGIRL vibe, all her own. And that makes me very happy. She's one of the very first characters I ever connected with.
