Is there a good jumping on point with this series so I don't have to start from #1?
I would recommend starting at 1 if you can only because I'm up to 9 now and every issue has been great! It's admittedly a lot easier to do if you pick them up digitally but either way I feel good about all the comments placed here and really happy that I am reading it. Definitely in my top 3.
Of course I have no idea how important 1-9 are to the rest of the story but everything I have read so far feels like it belongs together. I'm trying to catch up in Batman and Batgirl at the same time. Having a blast!
Bob just dropped a bomb on me when he said that Gail is not writing it anymore. Are the issues minus Gail just as good?

To my knowledge Gail is still writing the series, she doesn't do some of the cross over issues. She is still scheduled on the book up to #29.

I thought that they were saying that she was gone all together. I'm happy to know that it was just for the crossovers. I apologize for the confusion.

No problem philyd (and sorry I'm late replying!), I often confuse myself, so it's no wonder I create that in others! As a "Babs" side-note, she'll be appearing in issues #9 and #10 of Ms. Simone's great-but-under-read series The Movement ! Bob

I keep meaning to read that based solely on your love for it. I have downloaded issue 1 but haven't started reading it first. Babs is becoming one of my favorite characters so based on your recommendations and the appearance of Barbara I need to get on it.
So many comics, so little time.

Philyd, Sadly the first trade of The Movement isn't out until April, but I'm sure there are cheap back issues around, either real or electronic! The appearance by Batgirl comes after their first arc concluded, so you may be able to jump right in without them, albeit with some mysteries that we who have been reading don't have answers to either!

three tie-ins in six months has completely stunted the title, in my view. I read this and batwoman, and it's pretty stark to see how batwoman was largely able to stay in its own end of the pool and stay fairly even as a result.

Heyo,
Finished up with #31 and really enjoyed it. It seems to be back on track as far as a plot that carries from issue to issue. One night thing about this issue was that it made a reference to Batgirl Annual #2. All too often Annuals are 'throw away' issues (though I've always loved them for their done-in-one stories), but it was neat to see something stick. The art was good, some really, really nice stuff and then again some kind of generic stuff. I am getting a wee bit tired of Batgirl always trying to play nice with these villains and then part way through the fight suddenly go "ok, time to get serious and fight for real...". Almost like she has a hard time remembering from fight to fight ya know?
