Any idea why this is 4.99?

Because the people in charge of pricing at Marvel (and DC) are larcenous sons of bitches who totally and completely miss the point of what that book is supposed to be and who it's supposed to be aimed at, that's why.

Tony, I agree with the sentiment, but I'd refrain from the acrimony, even though I'm saddened, as it was a fun read! S.H.I.E.L.D. (and Operation S.I.N.) could be perfect books to draw TV viewers into the print version of the MCU! Disney/Marvel might have been able to attract many new readers with a $2.99 cover price and some on-air advertising within the credits or during the producer's tag, which would cost virtually nothing as compared to an actual commercial!

Big fan of the Black Knight and glad to see him used this way in this issue. Fun story.

I think they do it because they know that #1 issues sell more than any of the others, so they figure they will up the price to cover any potential dwindling of readership, which is guaranteed.
