AHHH OMG... Totally spaced on adding the Best Comics of 2014 podcast thread... HERE WE GO! ------------------------ This is our last Best Of 2014 list and it is all about our favourite comic books. Mara, Melissa and Stephanie count down their Top 5 of the year and discuss each of their picks in the second half of the podcast. In the first half, there is talk of Christmas, holiday shenanigans and of course, recommendations. Read on for what makes the list of our favourite things for the week… Recommendations: Deadly Class, Never Alone, The Hobbit: Battle of the Five Armies, The Boy Who Drew Monsters. We want to also let you know that we will be in fact, launching Missfits Book Club in January. We’re still working out the whole thing, but we have figured out what the first book will be and that is The Martian by Andy Weir. Make sure you pick up the book and read it if you want to join in. This is the first Missfits podcast I've checked out and seems I've just discovered an awesome new listen. Really enjoyed the show, and some great choices for best comics. I need to check out Lazarus. Sounds great.

Aw, thanks Tony and skylynx! We really love putting together these shows, and I can assure you the topics and events we have planned for 2015 will only amp it up.
Tony, I love Cowboy Bebop! We need to get a Cowboy Bebop episode going sometime. That series is such a great exploration of past and redemption.
skylynx, I cannot recommend Lazarus enough. Rucka is a top-class world-builder, and Lazarus has nuances I've never seen in any other book. There are two writers over at NerdSpan who put together in-depth analyses of each issue of Lazarus. Their notes are just incredible, and I learn something new about it every time. Rucka and Lark themselves are impressed with the analyses, and have provided more information to these two writers about the world of Lazarus.

Listen to this almost two weeks back and due a re-listen. Loved the diversity in the selections and the passion with which they were talked about. Can't agree with all of the choices, definately do with others and certainly some things to check out. More of this sort of thing!

Lazarus is great, I highly recommend it. "The Lift" arc is one of my favorites this year. Rucka and Lark are creating an incredibly dynamic world and it's fun following Forever and the other characters as the story unfolds. I will be checking out the NerdSpan stuff, thanks for the recommendation.
The family histories and bonus material in the single issues provide a lot of insight into the world that has been created and is really cool. I don't think the TPBs have them, but I believe they are included in the hardcover collection. You don't need them to enjoy the book, but it is a unique feature of this book.

I am behind this 110% and/or maybe a Shinichiro Watanabe episode Cowboy Bebop (all time favorite anime; on hulu plus), Samurai Champloo (damn near Bebops equal in my opinion; netflix and hulu plus), Space Dandy (fun show; hulu plus, maybe netflix), Terror in Resonance (neat story; hulu plus), Kids Story (animatrix), kids on the slope (need to find and watch this one) Yeah shameless plug for hulu plus: I have seen more cool anime on there than I can shake a pointed stick at.
