By day, and sometimes at night, I'm a lawyer and health care navigator with a non-profit. I really enjoy the work and my co-workers are nice, but none are into comics (although one does like sci-fi books, shows, and movies so we have fun conversations about Battlestar Galatica and the like). While my wife has no problem with me reading/collecting comics, she is not into them despite many attempts at persuasion. Thankfully, I've got this awesome new community, and couple friends from college who I've convinced to get subscriptions at a LCS. Slowly but surely spreading the love. This may be a question for a different thread, but have y'all had any success getting friends/significant others into comics? If so, what did the trick? I got my girlfriend into comics... sort ofAll I had to do was translate her love for social justice and Buffy into comics. So I picked up a couple comics with the occult themes and a female lead. When that didn't work I picked her up March. Then she read Strangers In Paradise and fell in love with that series. I can get her to read comics and she'll enjoy them, but when I ask, "What did you think of Daytripper?" the only response I get is "It was good. I liked it" ... sigh.

I have a friend in there (he got me the job), but he is more of a gamer than anything else...I tried over the years to get him into comics but no avail. Other than that I don't believe anyone else in the office is into comics other than watching movies or so.....(and I wear comic book t-shirts and have bubble heads at my desk).

When I used to skateboard we called people who carried their skateboards (instead of riding them) POSERS. They put skateboard stickers all over but couldn't even do a kick-flip. So, what are people who just watch comic book related movies but have no interest in comic books? Posers? hehe. THE WORST Sorry if that sounds "elitist" but look at the confusion/embarrasment it has caused two of us already...

Although, she and I share a love for social justice as well, so maybe I'll give March a try since she loved John Lewis' autobiography Walking with the Wind. Given that Daytripper is just about my favorite book, comic or otherwise, I'm not too objective when it comes to understanding why someone wouldn't absolutely love the book too. But having said that, I'm at least happy to hear of more people reading it. Again, good effort sir!

I manage and see clients at a local hair salon. I've been in the industry for 15 years, but only running my place for 5. I've only met one other stylist that I can recall who likes comics, and she got in to them after much persuasion from me. My industry is not one that shelters many with "nerd" tendencies, so although I've found it makes me somewhat of a strange fit with coworkers, it's been a great bonding subject for me with the men and college students who end up in my chair. My interest in technology and gadgets has also been a nice subject to put the intellectuals who are less at ease in an environment that seems focused on physical beauty in a comfortable place with me. We have an large amount of IBM employees in my town, so my clientele includes lots of folks who fall in to that category.

I do the camera work for a local public access comic book show so I've been exposed to a lot of comic fans (as well as my other job) but I know I'm in the minority. A lot of my friends come to me for comic talk. Otherwise they have nobody to talk to.

I work for a computer company doing repairs for our biggest client. Mostly hardware related. Id rather be doing super spy stuff, but I save that for the weekends And the man does fine work! Justin even saved my ass from the fire a few months back. Ever since then we've been good buddy pals. He's good people. My kind of people.

Desktop Support Tech here. Lots of time at my desk with 2 monitors and although we are very busy as of late, I do have some downtime to browse the internet and read comics. No one here reads at all either. Although there are a few of the nerdy types that appreciate comics (my boss laughs out loud every time I call comics an under appreciated literary medium). On the flip side, I have one buddy that reads comics but all of my other close friends think that they are childish and do not understand them at all. I get a lot of laughs and head shakes when I even bring them up. So that side is definitely not fun. My wife tolerates them, but she is still against trying them.
