Assuming you're not some top secret field agent who happens to love comic books on the side, how do you fund your pull list? Anybody actually in the comics industry here?
I work for the Department of Child Welfare, occasionally depressing, often rewarding as long as you look at it with the right attitude. I have random comics around that I can share with kids that come into custody and have to sit around the office awaiting placement.

I'm a freelance comic book/movie/video game journalist as well as a stand-up comedian. That usually pays the bills.

I'm a Tech Support Specialist AKA Help Desk guy at a large Agricultural Company. My degree is in graphic design and while I have done some freelance work my income comes from being a computer nerd. In a department with about 45 IT people I am the only one into comics.

Maybe they're closet fans. I don't exactly announce my love for comics to my coworkers but the few I've asked all denied it. One guy had a Batman wallpaper so I asked him if he reads Batman. He said "no but I like the movies" I said " Ya me too" and shuffled of. The CIO saw my Green Arrow wallpaper and said "Oh are you one of those guys and walked away"
Nobody in my family reads them either. Bummed
As long as I got my Talking Comics friends I'm cool.

I work as a cook in an upscale restaurant/brewery. I cook our dinner entrees and pizzas. It's hard work but it's kind of rewarding. I'm oddly proud of it sometimes and other times I'm miserable and hate it lol. I've been working as a cook for about 6 years now and I really want to move on, but nobody will hire me because they only see the kitchen experience.
What they don't understand is the type of work ethic you have to have to be a cook can translate into anything else.
What I really want is a cushy office job that doesn't stress me out so I can draw and practice my photography on the side. Oh well, maybe someday.

That same thing happened to me in my class today. This girl had a Batman phone case and an Iron Man set of head phones. So I ask her the same question, "so, do you like comics?!" "nooo... why?" "Oh I just figured that you did because of your super hero stuff" "oh.. no I just like the movies. and thought these looked cool"

By day, and sometimes at night, I'm a lawyer and health care navigator with a non-profit. I really enjoy the work and my co-workers are nice, but none are into comics (although one does like sci-fi books, shows, and movies so we have fun conversations about Battlestar Galatica and the like). While my wife has no problem with me reading/collecting comics, she is not into them despite many attempts at persuasion. Thankfully, I've got this awesome new community, and couple friends from college who I've convinced to get subscriptions at a LCS. Slowly but surely spreading the love.
This may be a question for a different thread, but have y'all had any success getting friends/significant others into comics? If so, what did the trick?

I didn't even think about asking if people had coworkers that enjoyed comics. I got one of my friends hired recently, he likes comics. He doesn't follow every week but he's still fun to talk to about it. I just found out today that one of the supervisors here likes comics, I saw a small vinyl figure of cyclops on his desk so I commented on it, he said he has "lots more but that was his only duplicate. He also said he reads alot of new 52 and is excited about wizard world next week." Fun day.
