Mister Bob Reyer,
Say you had to permanently kill off one of your top three favorite characters of all time or else your fellow podcasters and all of the listeners would suffer a terrible fate, which character would you kill off? There are no loop holes. One must go in order to save us all. Who do you choose?
And yes, this is hard.
Have a nice evening!
Logan

Logan Well, That's a fine kettle of fish to drop your Cranky Old Uncle Bob into! By "permanently kill off", I'm assuming you mean that no new comics featuring that character will see print, but not that I have to burn my back issues or not read them or anything like that. Logan, if you had made it "Top Ten", it would have been easier, as the decision was made for me, but as the challenge stands, it's a tough one. For informational purposes, here are my "All-Time Top Ten Comic Book Characters": 1. Ben Grimm2. Captain America3. Susan Storm Richards 4. Wonder Woman 5. Reed Richards6. Luke Cage7. Doctor Doom8. Spider-Man9. Doctor Strange10.OracleWith DC having already removed Oracle from continuity with the New 52 re-launch, my hands and conscience would be clean! However, as your challenge was to eliminate one of the gold, silver, or bronze medalists, I would have to say that as the character as is currently written is not "my" vision of it, and that due to "big-time creator syndrome" it is not likely to change anytime soon, I would order a hit on Captain America.

CAPTAIN AMERICA?!
Well, I suppose, if it is a gallant death, that would be okay. With the current Captain America title being the dimension trash that it is (at least, as a Cap book!) what is going to have to happen for the book to come back from this? I know it's comics but, all of this stuff is considered canon right? How does Cap come back from this muck and mire of storytelling? Poor Rogers, but I knew your top ten from the list you sent me almost a year ago (did you know our emails stretch all the way back to May 1st 2013? Been a quick year hasn't it?) and I actually figured you would kill off Steve. I couldn't imagine you killing of Ben or Sue! Here's my top Ten: 1) Daredevil 2) Hawkeye 3) Ben Grimm 4) Captain Marvel 5) Captain America 6) Batman 7) Sue Richards Storm 8) Reed Richards 9) Spider-Man 10) Scott Summers
And seemingly, I'm in a similar position as you. Had I chosen top ten, I would have chosen Scott as the current Cyclops is not the Cyclops I love. Ever since you showed me Dark Phoenix, I haven't been able to get his character out of my brain. He was so great back then compared to now. If he was still the same Scott today, as he is now, he would be higher up on the list! But, since I made it top three... ... ... Ah, man, this is awful. In one hand, all three of my top would sacrifice themselves for the greater good/the people they love. Going to have to just pull the bandaid off. I could never kill off Ben. Ever. So it's Clint or Matt... As hard as it is, I'm going to have to choose....Clint. That's painful!

Bob, regarding the Remender Cap book: Steve has been back from Dimension Z since issue 10. (They're on 19 now.) It might be worth your while to check back in. It's pretty good. (Take what I'm saying with a grain of salt, though. I LOVED the Dimension Z story.)

Chris, I have noticed that Cap is back on Earth, but with Zola's daughter on covers and no Sharon (I'm guessing), the focus isn't where I would prefer, which was one of the reasons why I left after issues that showed Cap threatening to shoot Ms. Zola after having gained access to her palace by flinging his shield through bad guys' heads. I know a lot of folks love it, but it's back to the Archives for me, I think! Thanks for the up-date, nevertheless!

Hey Bob, a few episodes back you mentioned owning a Wonder Woman encyclopedia. Which version do you think is the most complete?

Hey Bob, a few episodes back you mentioned owning a Wonder Woman encyclopedia. Which version do you think is the most complete? Hiya, Katy! A long-time friend (and the owner of my LCS!) gifted me with "The Essential Wonder Woman Encyclopedia" by Phil Jimenez (whose run on the Amazon Princess was stellar!) and John Wells. It is 485 illustrated pages (plus two color sections) chock-full of heroes, villains, supporting characters, and places, and you'd be hard-pressed to find a better volume! Here's the link to Amazon , and here's a look at the cover:

Logan, As a native New Yorker, we're most-of-us very multi-cultural, and so are all part Jewish, German, British, Italian, Irish, African-American, Puerto Rican, Russian, Polish, Japanese, et al, and particularly we older folks tend to borrow (steal) apt or interesting phrases and words from all cultures, capish bubbeleh?ps) ...like this thread's title! rrr

Your Old Uncle Bob is crankier than ever because he forgot that April 7 was "International Misfit Day", when all knowing people revel in the goodness that was Gail Simone's character Charlotte Gage-Radcliffe, aka Misfit! She first appeared in Birds of Prey #96, and had some memorable moments in that series as a spunky young heroine looking to earn her wings, but hasn't been seen in the New 52 uttering her classic "DARRRK VENNNNGEANNNCE!" tagline. Over at Ms. Simone's Ape in a Cape Tumblr, there has been quite a flood of "Charlie" stuff, and I'm not sure which is my favorite, but this cartoon by Mike Kevan is right up there... ...but this picture of "Vengeance Moth" and "Misfit" about to engage in a internet chat makes me smile:

[...] Ha! Gail's tumblr never fails to amuse. I just happened to learn about Misfit a week or so ago when I got BoP 96-98 from my LCS' dollar bin. Went from a "wait...what? Another Batgirl?" to having a new favourite character. Now I have to track down the rest of the issues in which she appears (only 46 in total, it seems. Shame...although it makes it easier for me to collect them all).

"R", Try to read Charlie's story as it unfolded, as the issues from about #100 through the end of Gail Simone's first run build so nicely to an emotional finale in #108! Happy reading!
