Anyone else read the #1? I was so disappointed in this. I read the character's Seven Soldiers of Victory arc as part of my "get into DC!" initiative and was so intrigued by him. I was super excited when I heard he was getting a solo title, but this #1 just fell flat for me. I thought the origin they gave him and ability to turn a "human" color and blend in made him much less intriguing than how he was introduced to me in the other comic. I didn't like the dialogue and found Klarion's ability to immediately get social cues and pop culture references 5 seconds after arriving on Earth really strange. Maybe someone else read it and loved it, and if so I'd be interested to hear your thoughts, but I just had a sadface after reading.

I was morbidly curious to hear how this turned out. Ann Nocenti hasn't seemed to have been able to write a single worth reading so far in the New5; I was rather hoping that this would be the title where she pulled it together.

It's a bizarre number one and many respects doesn't do the job it's supposed to do at all. The lack of explanation of who Klarion was is utterly baffling to me. I didn't expect it to be as engaging as Morrison's take but I was hoping for something with seeds of a good story.
I will say I thought the art was great and with the right writer McCarthy could be a great Klarion artist.
Disappointing overall for sure :-(

I don't really want to sound rude, but I am constantly baffled by just how Ann Nocenti continues to get given books by DC. Her Green Arrow work was just horrible in every sense of the word, and I can't bring myself to read anymore her Catwoman stuff past the two issues I read.
Art was pretty nice though. Some interesting stuff there. I'd love to see what the artist could do with a different writer.

I'm saddened by this because I'm generally interested in this character... and I try nearly all DC first issues... but I don't care for Ann Nocenti's Writing style, I would wager to say her and Lobdell are my two least favorite creators working at the moment. I'm not saying they are bad, just not for me.

Yup, her and Liefeld(yeah he did that, remember?) are writers I totally do no connect to and since I had so high hopes for Katana which was a whole disappointment for me, I won't be touching this. I respect her for writing, I know it's a hard work, but it's just not for me. The character is awesome, he just need to be put into the right hands!

She may have a contract that requires a certain amount of work offered to her. I didn't dislike this issue, but I didn't connect with the story. I didn't understand who the guy was on the last page?
