It was downright delightful and charming. I can tell already that my favourite is going to be Pomeline Fritch (Brenden said that his favourite was Pomeline too and the second issue will feature her more prominently). Definitely a much needed change of pace from the usual DC New 52 stuff.

Since you read a lot more DC than I do (that is to say, you read DC - although I am now reading this and getting Batgirl and just started Gotham Central, so I'm learning!), which characters are new to this comic and which have appeared before? I mean, Bruce Wayne is obvious, of course. I'm assuming the headmaster is a guy who's been around in the DC universe?

I'm pretty sure everyone is new but we'll see if they're connected to anyone else in the DC Universe

I can't believe how much I loved this. Not to be a downer, but I had a disspointingly negative experience meeting Becky Cloonan in the past and while I understand people can have their bad days, I went into this book holding a bit of a grudge. But this book was so much fun, it has completely washed away that experience and I can't wait to read more. This is the first book I've read where the kids are written exactly like kids. Not the over exaggerated teenager "lingo" and so on. Just natural. And what wasn't dialogue was written so well. I can't explain it but it felt poetic somehow.
The art is AMAZING. Took me a long time to get through this book just because I was taking in every detail.
My one and only complaint is I don't have a little sister to give this to.

I know this book is all-ages but what should be the youngest age-group for this series? There's an "oh my crap" line that makes me hesitant to say this is for ALL ages.

Just read it today, thought it was pretty good. The best thing for me was the art, was surprised by how amazing it looked. As for the rest of the book, the story hasn't really hooked me yet, and none of the characters seemed all that interesting to me so far.
But hey, its only the first issue and it has a lot of potential.I'm definitely going to be on board for at least a couple of issues.

I thought it was ok, might buy another but probably not. I hate to be the wet blanket but I didn't really see this as a new age of awesome for DC comics. COuld be an age thing, feel like I might have appreciated this book more if I was a teenager. As it stands I'd say it's solid but wouldn't go much further.

I thought it was better than Batgirl, but overall it's just not a book I'm interested in. I'm happy books like this are coming out though, since it diversifies the line-up. They are just going for an audience which I am not a part of. I hope it has a 100 issue run, I just won't be part of the next 99 issues.

Even though it'd been recommended to me by a good friend as "Hogwarts in Gotham" (which is exactly what it is, in the best possible way), I went in slightly skeptical (as I am of all books by the Big Two). I needn't have been.
This book is lightning. Only a few pages in I was already getting that, "Holy shit, this book! I want it in my hands forever and ever, all the time, every day, may we never be separated!!" feeling, the sensation that I ought to get (and mostly do) from all of the books that I get in singles. That's the good stuff; that ambrosia feeling that I demand from my comics. I had no intention of loving it, or adding it to the monthly stack, but the book simply left me no choice in the matter. It's brilliant on every level, and I want more right this very minute. The world building, the art, the delightfully-Hogwarts look and feel, the jumping-right-into-it style of storytelling . . it's gold. And at a good price point, even! Can't wait for next month.

Was ok not ground breaking for me. i loved the art so i'll be giving it another issue or 2 to either hook me or lose me.. Very potterish feel to the title.

I'm so happy this issue was so good as I wanted it to be. I read it twice and I think it's really a perfect first issue, because you have it all. New characters, secrets, a breathing world und a beeeeautiful artwork. I'm so excited in which direction the book will be heading and I hope so so much, that by the end of the month we will see huge sales for this one! This would be a really important sign for DC and the future in general!

I absolutely adored this. Anyone else? I think adored is the perfect word for it. It was like the perfect nightcap on my books that evening. I love the void it fills and its an itch that can be can hard to scratch in comics these days.
I loved it.

It was everything I wanted it to be! I have to confess, I was not excited by the art when I first saw it. But once I read the issue it just clicked and I couldn't imagine it drawn any other way. I am so keen to see more of Pomeline Fritch.
