Anybody pick up issue 1 of Hellboy and the BPRD? Alex Maleev's art (with as always awesome colors from Dave Stewart) is the real highlight here. The story's fine as a nice introduction to the universe and gateway to the BPRD comics, but the art fits so nicely with the hellboy universe. That splash page with Professor Bruttenholm's vision of Hellboy is just awesome. I'm definitely going to, but i want to read all the other Hellboy/BRPD stuff first.I'm finally(after a year or so)beginning to catch up on those books, i only need to read Hellboy Storm and Fury, Hellboy in Hell, and a couple of Hell on Earth books, and then i'm all caught up.I already bought all of it during the Cyber Monday deal and i will probably read it all during the holiday break(which can't come soon enough!)and then im going to start with Hellboy and the BPRD.

I'm going to try and stop by my LCS Wednesday or Thursday to get issue 2. Having never read any Hellboy stuff before, I thought issue 1 was a great intro to the Hellboy universe. I've been wanting to try Hellboy for awhile now (the amount of material was somewhat overwhelming) and thanks to the podcast, picked up The Midnight Circus and this issue. Very glad I did, excellent stuff.

The team dynamic is really interesting in Hellboy & The BPRD so far in that its novel that HB isn't relied upon as the muscle or completely trusted yet within the team. Lovely that his compassion is already there.

Seeing as there isn't a single Dark Horse thread I thought I'd bring it up here but there seriously needs to be a Dark Horse section on this forum. They have been killing it lately. Without even realising I have gone from having multiple Marvel and Image titles on my list to none at all and just Dark Horse and DC. And not just lisenced Dark Horse stuff. So many great creator owned books have been coming out.

Hellboy is something I've been meaning to read for years, and never got round to it until recently when I made an impulse 'something to read while hungover' purchase, and picked up the first volume digitally on Sequential. Can't believe it took me so long. Didn't take me long to burn through the first 5 volumes. I love how Mignola weaves Mythology and Folklore into his stories. Once I've exhausted the Hellboy volumes, I'm definitely going to delve into the rest of the Mignolaverse.
