Hello forum! I'm working on a new column here on Talking Comics that will be an ongoing place to answer all of your questions. Anything and everything goes. That's not to say that I will answer every single question, obviously if it's incredibly inappropriate or too creepy, I may choose to politely skip it.
If you ask a question that I feel could be better addressed by another TC contributor, I will consult with them for the best answers possible. My hopes for this column is to get to know you better and allow the many Talking Comics contributors to shine. Also, probably to be exercise my silly sense of humor on you all, essentially using you as my own personal guinea pigs.
Please share your questions for the column here! Include your twitter name (if you have one) so I can properly credit you for what will undoubtedly be incredibly stimulating and intellectual queries. You can also email your questions to me at musingsofamissfit@gmail.com.
If you don't already know who I am and need a little something to start with, this is me:
Mother, hair stylist, business manager, podcaster, writer. My interests lean heavily towards video games, "independent" comic books, horror and sc-fi films, music, animals and fitness. I am one of three of The Missfits podcast crew.
Thanks for everything!

Hey Melissa, I've got one to start things off! I know that you're a great fan of horror tales of all sorts, and in all media, so here's a "what if" kind of question. If you could pick five figures from the world of horror--real-life or fictional, alive or dead--be it books, films, TV, or comics, and invite them to a cocktail party for a wide-ranging discussion, who would be getting the invitations? Your Cranky Old Uncle Bob awaits the answer...and could I be a fly on the wall at the party?

Why does DC (and marvel to a lesser extent) take so damned long to come out with their stuff in trades, hardcovers and omnibi (or whatever the plural of omnibus is). I mean how new 52 stuff is like barely to fourth hardcover.

Seriously, Bob. How could anyone beat that question?? This is going to take quite a bit of musing.

I love these kind of discussions and have thought extensively about "dinner with one person", and such

I'm not sure if it's what you have in mind but I have a multi-faceted question regarding community: There's a lot of talk about how comic books are becoming more diverse, what with the push for female-led series, more LGBT and POC representation, the support of creators etc. Obviously there is a long way to go but things are certainly moving - slowly but surely - in that direction. Do you think that this diversity in the medium is/will be trickling down into the community? Have you seen any signs of diversity acceptance in places that were previously resistant? What do you think members of the comic book community can do to help push this change in their usual spaces? ( goodeeveening on twitter)

Loved the first column, Melissa. I especially liked how you grabbed a couple of responses from other members of the team where appropriate.

Thanks! For future reference, I'll be moving an official question thread in to the Missfits discussion section.
