I like Michael B Jordan but the rest...... I actually really like Kate Mara as Sue and think she'll do a great job. Ever since I watched House of Cards, I'm willing to give Kate a chance in anything. As for the other two? On their own, Jamie Bell and Miles Teller are good actors. But as The Thing and Mr Fantastic? I'm not too sure. I'm in wait and see mode right now. I just wonder how many more writers they're going to attach to this project. They have 3 right now.

I think Miles Teller has the Reed Richards look.

So...they're all in their twenties at their origin point, including Johnny who was a teenager, and excluding Susan who is now the oldest member of the crew, except that they're not a crew based on the script tid-bits that leaked from the casting agency, which included the notion that Reed becomes smart from the Cosmic Ray exposure, and he and Ben work as super-powered spies for the government. This project just reeks of the Stan Lee/Jack Kirby originals that changed the face of comics, doesn't it? I'm beginning to think that perhaps Emmy Rossum as Doctor Doom wouldn't be such a bad fit after all! I've heard rumours that some years back when it seemed Fox might relinquish the rights to Fantastic Four, Paramount worked up a script for an FF film set in the Sixties a la X-Men: First Class, which told the origin sequence back-dropped by the "Space Race"! I think today will be the perfect day to watch the most faithful live-action Fantastic Four while consuming copious amounts of vino:

Heyo, As a huge FF fan I can tell you I'm a completely uninterested in this movie at this time and I don't hold out much hope that anything will turn that thought around. Consider me extremely disappointed. - Beau

I'm definitely lack major confidence in this movie, but I'll wait to see how they handle Doom before losing hope.

Cap'n, I'm feeling that Fox and the production team have already mis-handled everything else about this a-borning project to the point that it should be called the "Faux-tastic Four", and I'm not prepared to give them any more mulligans.

Exactly. What sucks is Marvel has generally speaking shown these companies the past few years the right way to do these projects. Given there have been two recent FF movies I'm willing to bet people are familiar with the team. Screw another reboot origin story and just jump right into an FF adventure. If they want a more 'diverse' cast then have the adventure take place or include Wakonda. They cast that guy they've got for the torch(Michael B. Jordan?) as the Black Panther. He'd be perfect. But it's almost like the people doing this movie have never read the FF or are so intent on diversification, and putting their own stamp on it they'll trample on what makes the comic so great - it's amazing history. Heck at that point you'd have Reed, T'Challa, Professor X, Captain America....all you'd need for an Illuminati movie would be Dr Strange and Namor! Ok so that's just crazy talk, heh. And yeah I know the rights to BP and all the others are prob owned by different companies, and all the other issues that go along with stuff like this. - Beau

I think this movie just reeks of "Hey we're about to lose our FF movie rights if we dont make a film here soon. Lets just throw something together to keep this from going back to Marvel". I hate to be negative but I really wish Disney would just take a blank check, hand it to Fox and say "Here, put how ever many zeroes you want on this and just give us back the rights to the X-Men and FF". I've really only enjoyed 2 Comic Book films made by Fox, the rest have been severe let downs for me.

Although Marvel Studios has made some mis-steps, they're tiny compared to the mess that Fox has already made of Fantastic Four, a disastrous experiment that they seemed poised to repeat! At least when Bernd Eichinger was about to lose the rights to Fantastic Four all those years ago, he turned to Roger Corman who respected the source material, and their quickie version "read" like the Lee/Kirby FF! I know how cheap this looks (it was made for around a million bucks!), but trust your Cranky Old Uncle Bob here, this "space saver" of a film has more right about it than the Fox films that each cost 200 times more to make! First, the theatrical teaser... Then, the trailer that appeared on various New Horizons videocassettes in 1993--94...

Bob, The 3 mins total of these FF teasers are already better than both of the previous 2 Fox films. I'm going to have to find this and give it a full watch.

"Dead", I know that the film has been posted on You Tube; as to the quality of any of them, who knows? There are flaws a-plenty caused mostly by the miniscule budget and the rushed production, such as Roger Corman discovering after the script was written that the producers hadn't in fact licensed all the elements from Fantastic Four #1, so to avoid a total re-write that there wasn't time for, The Mole Man had to be changed into "The Jeweler". All that said, if you go into watching the film with an open mind and a forgiving heart, you will be rewarded! Back in June, you may remember that we interviewed Marty Langford, who is the director of the soon-to-be-released documentary entitled "Doomed!", which is about the making of the Corman/Sassone Fantastic Four. I'll put the link to it here: talkingcomicbooks.com/2013/06/05/issue-83-x-men-up-vertigo-down/
