So upon learning that a crunchyroll subscription also included digital comics, I finally decided to give it a go.
So where should I begin? What is accessible that is good? Once I het my feet wet, what should I go to next that might not be accessible but is so essential that I have to read it?
Should I drop CR and go down another digital avenue, instead?
I welcome thoughts, opinions, and ideas.

"Dr. Mara Wood...paging Dr. Wood..." Seriously though (don't you hate when people say that, by the way?), since I'm always about going for a classic, I'd mention "Tetsuwan Atom" ("Astro Boy" is the American title), or perhaps a series that's familiar to you through another medium, such as "Akira", but let's see if we can't get the Doctor to prescribe something?

The good thing about Crunchyroll is that, since it's a subscription service, you aren't wasting money by trying out everything. On that service, I would recommend Attack on Titan and Fairy Tail (though, I don't think the earlier issues are available on the service). I read all of Orange on CR, and that manga is getting an anime this summer season. So is ReLIFE and Sweeting and Lighting, two other CR manga to definitely check out. Of course, A Silent Voice (the one about the deaf character I mentioned on the show) is a fantastic read, and it is there in entirety. Kiss Him Not Me is a problematic fave of mine. The Heroic Legend of Arslan is on CR, and it is a manga adaptation of a series of novels. Finally, for me, Princess Jellyfish. One of my favorite stories, and I'm glad to see the manga finally legally available to an American audience. Bob mentioned Astro Boy and Akira, which are manga classics to sink your teeth in! Dark Horse is releasing Astro Boy in omnibus format, so it would be easier to read it than before. I would also suggest Death Note and Fullmetal Alchemist; both are really popular in the manga world and have amazing stories. If you want a challenge, there's always One Piece, Naruto, and Bleach (I've almost read all of Bleach - almost!). One inexpensive way to check out a variety of manga is a Shonen Jump subscription. It's through vizmanga.com. For $25 a year, you get a digital "magazine" of manga issues each week. The stories are serialized, so it can be hard to jump into it and know what the heck is going on in One Punch Man or something. But it's a fairly cheap way to get the latest action manga (I believe SJ is simultaneously published with Japan - or it's a week off). Manga can be super intimidating to start because it doesn't have the same recognition as superhero characters. But most libraries have some sort of manga collection, which is a great excuse to try everything until you find something that sticks. Good luck, and let me know what series you enjoy!

Thank you, Bob! Thank you, Dr. Wood! I just started Orange and I am really liking it, and I am definitely going to check out A Silent Voice once I finish.
I was all in when Dark Horse did the full size versions of Ghost in the Shell, Blade of the Immortal and Ah, My Goddess way back in the 90s. So I am keen on checking out the Astro Boy omnibus, I loved the movie and I think they did a nice job importing the titles they did.
For me, incidentally, the big intimidation factor is the length and that serial nature...always gives me the feeling like I will never catch up.
Anyway, thanks again for the suggestions, I shall return in a few weeks when I start diving deep.

I'm partial to Cowboy Bebop (if you can find it these days) and Noragami, and D-Frag! is a fun time.

Don't know if you're into this or if its a good place to start but a few weeks ago i started reading my first manga ever, Gundam the Origin, a retelling of the Mobile Suit Gundam anime. I happened to find one of the books a few weeks ago at a book market at a cheap price thinking it was the first book, only to find out a short time later it was actually book five of twelve .That being said, i had no problem understanding any of it due to the recap at the beginning, and i absolutely loved the art, especially the colored pages, and the story, which felt like Game of Thrones in space...with mechs! After finishing the fifth book i have started reading it from the beginning and now i really want all the books, only problem is they're pretty expensive, at least online.
