Steph picks.... Mystery Girl #1!!! By Paul Tobin and Alfredo Albequerque. I was already picking this up, so great!
Albequerque drew the first half of Charles Soule's Letter 44, fwiw

I was hooked as soon as I read the premise and I wasn't disappointed. The first issue was great! The guy who murders people adds a touch of thriller/suspense to the series, but really I think even just a slice of life about Trine would be entertaining. Paul Tobin seems to have a history of writing unique and intriguing females and I can't wait to see where this series goes.

Well behind in my reading at the moment and only just read this. Thought it was ok, but there was one big problem for me that completely took me out of the story. It's meant to be in London yet they talk about sidewalks and blocks? Bit of basic research wouldn't have gone amiss. Albequerques art was gorgeous though.

I wasn't going to mention this, but you're right and it was jarring. Why bother setting a story in a setting the writer can't be bothered to research. I agree with the earlier comments that the character writing is great, though.

what is wrong about blocks/sidewalks? Neither of them exist in British cities. Sidewalks are called pavements here... blocks are even worse - old cities like London have grown in an unplanned way over hundreds of years and the streets are just where buildings happened to not be, there is no grid of intersecting streets and no-one living there would ever refer to a block. Certainly not a big deal, but easily enough to damage suspension of disbelief, I'm afraid.
